This was the perfect Omakase experience.
The staff made it accessible and not intimidating at all.
They answered every sushi and sake question we could pepper them with 😉
Every bite was delicious and the pace was PERFECT!
If you like sushi…this is the place!

By far my favorite omakase sushi place in Charleston! They source ingredients from all over the world with top notch quality. What made my experience even more memorable was the fact that chef Chris was very friendly and chatted with all the guests throughout the dinner (my fellow diners were also fun and lively.) For a 15+1 pieces omakase, it’s well worth the price.
Minor critique: in the first few pieces, my sushi rice was a little on the mushier side but it improved the second half of the dinner.

What a fabulous experience!
This was my second time and all the food was out of this world!
The beef bite at the end was also unbelievable!
I would recommend getting a bottle of sake if you have 2 or 3 people in your group.

One of the best omakase experience in town. A great selection of sakes to pair with the freshest nigiri bites.

Best omakase in Charleston and probably South Carolina. On par with places I’ve been in Seattle and NYC. You won’t be disappointed. One of the better sake selections I’ve ever seen and Chris knows his stuff. If you like high quality omakase you need to snag a reservation here.

$60/person for omakase which is available on fridays -sundays. SO WORTH IT. Its not just good food but also an experience. I genuinely felt like i went on trip! They are really skilled with their preparation skill and each piece was so different and made very well in terms of rice:sushi ratio. We also got the drunken whale sake ($34). The chefs are so humble and have great personalities. Very easy to talk to and you can tell that they love what they do. They prepared our food and explained each dish to us. It was intimate as only 7 people were seated for omakase. Hands down – best sushi in charleston.

This meal was incredible! Everything tasted amazing. I highly recommend adding the A5 Wagu, it was like butter just melted in your mouth. It’s pricey but totally worth it. It’s 14 pieces a piece made right in front of you. We will definitely be returning.

Went in early March – Amazing experience and phenomenal food. The chefs are wonderful, and we can’t wait be back for this experience again. It is pricey, but you can try amazing food that you may not get the chance to anywhere else, especially no where else in town. book today!! You won’t regret it

Sushi-Wa is not only my favorite sushi restaurant, but maybe my favorite restaurant period. The experience is omakase (dealer’s choice). The restaurant is tiny and seats maybe 10-12 guests. It takes effort and calculation to get a reservation but it is well worth it. The meal is mainly comprised of nigiri, each one more delicious than the one before. There has also been a hand roll each time I’ve gone. Highly recommend the optional add-on of the A5 Wagyu beef. Excellent selection of sake and Chris is very knowledgeable in recommending one to suit your liking. Absolutely incredible in every way.

From the moment I walked in knew it would be an experience of a lifetime. The smiles that met me and the way I was treated from the moment I stepped in the restaurant informed me of the experience that was about to ensue. With every bite, smile, and story of Japan our chef shared my night elevated further and further eventually leading me to sushi heaven. I’ll be back whenever a reservation pops up and I’ll make sure to always say yes to the wagyu. A truly exceptional experience that transports to Nagano, Japan and back.
