The beautiful ocean view from inside the restaurant gives this place 5 stars from the get go. I had the blackened chicken sandwich (no bun) which was flavorful and tender. Two in our party had the fish tacos and both exclaimed they were delicious. Their presentation was also impressive. The seaweed and lettuce salads were very fresh and tasty. The CA roll was rated good but not the top. There is a large eating and bar area outside for sunny day enjoyment. I’d recommend The Waverly and we would return in the future.

Friends suggested The Waverly for its stellar sunset views, and we weren’t disappointed, we were seated by the windows immediately. Our waiter promptly took drink orders after making several informed cocktail suggestions. I ordered the smoked old fashioned and it was smoky and smooth. We started with the cheese board (the basil cheddar was a standout) and for dinner, I chose the braised short rib. It was perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender.

My mom decided to host a small, intimate reception at The Waverley—and it ended up being the perfect choice. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating, and everyone absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing, and the overall ambiance and service were spot-on.

We didn’t even request a private room, yet they thoughtfully set us up in an intimate space where we could enjoy each other’s company and celebrate my mom and her husband in such a personal way. It truly made the night feel special.

I can’t recommend The Waverley enough—whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or planning something a little bigger, they absolutely deliver.

We’ve been coming to the Englewood area for 10 years and have always said, “we need to try The Waverly.” We finally made it and are glad we did.

The Waverly is a slightly more refined place than its neighbors, but still very casual. We went for the sunset and were not disappointed. The food is good, but the view is special.

We were there for Martini Monday and our meal with tip was right at $100 including dessert and a couple of drinks per person. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the food came out quickly, not that we were in a hurry.

This may have been our first time, but it won’t be our last.

As always, we had a great lunch at The Waverly. The food is consistently fabulous — one of those places where you order with complete confidence and are never disappointed. Our waiter Sean was excellent too: attentive, friendly, and just the right balance of present without hovering.

And then there’s the view. The ocean somehow looks more beautiful every time we visit, especially as the area continues to be thoughtfully restored after the hurricane. It’s heartening to see the progress, and there’s something quite uplifting about enjoying a lovely meal while watching everything slowly come back to life.

Our only small wish (and it is a heartfelt one): we truly hope the bistro will reopen again someday. It was my favourite restaurant here, and I miss it terribly.

That said — another wonderful visit, and we’ll absolutely be back.

I love this restaurant. When you come early you can get a fabulous view of sunset and have a tasty dinner. This restaurant is one of the best in the Venice/Englewood area. Nice selection of small plates and entres.entries. And they have gallato for desert.

We had a group of 6 and our server Evan was very accommodating and checked on us regularly. The calamari and fish dip were great. People in our party got fish and chips, shrimp scampi and salmon. My husband and I got the summer specials of mahi and linguine & clams which included soup and dessert, we wish they offered something like this year round. The portions were perfect.

We finally made it to The Waverly and had a truly great dinner. We started with the fried avocado (absolutely delicious) served with tons of tortilla chips—perfect for sharing. The surf and turf was a highlight, and I also had an enormous, super-fresh mountain of salad that hit the spot.

Service was top-notch. When our table got a bit cramped with all the dishes, the staff quickly moved us to a more spacious spot right by the window. It made the evening even better, especially with the gorgeous sunset view.

Drinks were spot-on, and while it’s definitely the priciest place on the key, it’s totally worth a visit for the atmosphere, service, and food. Highly recommend!

Firstly, as a server for almost 15 years and someone who has been in the restaurant industry for almost 20 years, I hate to make reviews like this.
We went to the Waverly for the first time in August when we had family in town. We loved the ambiance, service was ok but the food made up for that in that particular visit.

Tonight, March 3rd, 2026, we took our family that’s visiting in town, out to The Waverly. Server was awesome (I believe his name is John), he was very sweet and attentive. My husband (who is a chef himself) ordered a Med-rare(Warm red center) Filet off their menu as well as two others at the table. Well, my husband receives his filet and cuts into it. We both look at it and instantly know- it’s overcooked… it’s pushing medium well. No big deal! It happens. We pull the server over and explain that it’s overcooked. He’s awesome takes it back to the kitchen. Well lo and behold the front of the house manager or possibly she was just the head board hostess (not sure who she was because there was no introduction/etc) comes back out with same plate and said “our chef looked at the filet and said it’s a perfect medium rare steak in her eyes but she wants you to cut into the center to see if it’s less cooked” my husband explains he will definitely do so but he already can tell by the feel of it. He cuts into the center and it’s even more cooked than where he cut originally. If the lady didn’t take the filet back so quickly, I would’ve taken a picture due to this encounter. They recooked his filet, this one came out much better BUT it tasted disgusting. I thought he was overreacting so he had me take a bite and it tasted like liver (maybe a dark cutter..we have no idea what was wrong with it). We had it taken off the bill.

As a consumer, you are paying much more for not just the product here but also the experience than you would at another restaurant like Longhorn/Texas Roadhouse/etc. At the very least, there needs to be retraining on multiple levels on how to approach unfortunate circumstances like this. This was not the way to do so. You lost a repeat customer.
A good thing for servers to have on them would be a temp card to show customers(or maybe your chef) if there’s any question in what temperature said steak was.

Great to watch sunset! Average food to below. What a shame such an amazing location. Do not get the chicken, yikes, 1 crumbled piece of sausage, no peppers or even flavor of a pepper. Someone got the scallops, 52.00 about 3-4 small ones and ok but not 52.00 OK. Really love the place, hope they can get the food to the level of the location. House cab was good
