Yesterday morning I had to pick up my white bagpiping shirt from Executive Cleaners in Altoona and fortunate for me decided to stop by the Altoona Perkins for some breakfast on the way back home.
Sorry about the photo, I just dived in (thinking only of myself) before taking photos. This was without any doubt the best omelet I’ve ever eaten. I ask my server *(Lacey) to have the kitchen drizzle a little hollandaise sauce over that amazing everything omelet and instead I received a small saucer of it so I could add as much as I wanted. The hash browns were awesome, tender but had a bit of crunch as well. My server ask if I wanted some Tabasco or Cholula I wasn’t sure so she brought both. I’ve never tried the Cholula until now and must say her recommendation was on spot, it was spicy but not too hot and had a lot more flavor, a really good flavor that added to the omelet.
I was seated and my order taken quickly, when my breakfast arrived at the table, which didn’t take long at all, it was piping hot and insanely delicious. I brought a slice of Cherry Pie home for me and a Blueberry Muffin for Pam, my wife. Both were unsurprisingly awesome.
This is twice I’ve eaten here and both times the servers and the kitchen have knocked it out of the park.

We sure wish the Newton Perkins were as good, last two visits our orders arrived at the table cold and took forever, we were nearly starved to death by the time they came, seems we’ve had a history there with one visit good and the next not so good, very consistently *(inconsistent). The price of eating out has become too expensive for that, not to mention there’s a lot of competition out there and Altoona is not at all too far to drive for a good meal out.
My wife and I will be returning as soon as possible.

It was just the two of us on Thanksgiving this year, so we ordered online on Wednesday to be picked up Thursday afternoon. The individual turkey dinners we received were perfect and delicious, with very generous portions! They were ready on time and pickup at the restaurant was easy. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer Thanksgiving dinner…and I didn’t have to spend hours cooking or cleaning up afterwards! Thanks to the Perkins employees who worked on the holiday and helped make ours so enjoyable!

We ordered online spending close to $100. When the order arrived it was missing 70% of the food.
Called the restaurant and they offered no solutions. The assistant manager Nate was absolutely no help. Blamed everything on their system and didnt own anything.
Told us there is nothing he can do and that we will have to call back Monday when the General Manager is working.
You can take our money on the weekend but you can’t offer any solutions at all when you mess up? Assistant Managers can’t give a refund so everyone has to wait? Horrendous experience.

Lindsey was incredible! Had the big country skillet and a chicken tender melt. We passed up Flip N Jacks for their wait and we were so not disappointed. Waited for a table no more than 5 minutes on a Sunday and a few other customers ahead of us also waiting on tables. Did I mention Lindsey was incredible? Fast, delicious food and wonderful service.

Nathan B. would have received a better tip IF: 1. he had offered to refill our water glasses, 2. He had asked us if we wanted anything more before just dropping the tickets at our table without saying a word. I was going to order dessert, but never saw him again after he left the tickets.

My favorite thing: the server was singing along to the music while I was moving my head to it, so we had a nice bonding moment. She was really relaxed and friendly, and speedy, which was good because I was at cold from being at Adventureland. Food was good, restaurant was clean, and we all had a nice time after a long day celebrating Halloween and spooky houses at the amusement park. For sure, this is one of the best Perkins, ever.
