Restaurant Gouverneur de Rouville, or simply De Gouverneur’ is situated in Otrobanda, Willemstad, with a magnificent view over our world famous Handelskade. Very popular restaurant amongst locals and tourists to come and enjoy a lunch or a dinner, while watching large ships passing by in the harbor of Willemstad. Our menu consists of delicious International and Local cuisine with Caribbean twist. Come in and be welcomed by the sound of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and many more legends at our Motown Soul Bar. Enjoy the music while sipping of an ice cold beer, premium spirits, wine or one of our signature cocktails, add a cigar into the mix and you’re in for an amazing Motown experience!

Sat on the balcony one evening and the bar another visit for lunch. The trade winds blow through and add to the overall atmosphere. Food was very well done 8.5/10 service 9/10. The tuna tartare was wonderful fresh.

Come for the history, atmosphere and view from the balcony, just don’t expect world class cuisine. But it was more than acceptable.
Stuffed mushroom and banana soup were decent starters. Keshi Yena (my first) was pretty much what I expected. Not bad. Better than the Caribbean chicken which you can easily skip. My favorite was the fish of the day (Corvina) with a complementary creamy mustard sauce but wife was not a fan.
We got one of those rare breed super waiters, Samir. A super human too.
Signed,
The professors (inside joke)

Food: Fresh, tasty, and decent portions.
Service: Extremely friendly and fast.
Value: Good value for the money.
Atmosphere: It can get crowded as it’s a popular tourist spot, but it is worth the wait.
Definitely would recommend! Pro tip: Try to snag a table on the balcony for the best view of the Handelskade.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at Gouverneur! We shared the Caribbean Shrimp appetizer which was amazing! The Shrimp were perfect. I had the Caribbean chicken and my wife had the Corvina fish special. Both were expertly prepared with great sauces and sides. We loved the crispy French fries too. The service was slow, but pleasant. The sea breeze helped make for lovely outdoor dining! We highly recommend this excellent restaurant!

This place is solid all around good experience. The food was good and so was the service. The prices are also reasonable. We had the Banana soup and the Karni Stoba to start, both were tasty. The banana soup is best in small portions, but the Stoba was very good and I can recommend it as a meal. We also had the Salmon and the mixed grill. My wife said the salmon was very good and the hollandaise sauce was some of the best she has had. I had the Mixed Grill, which had tenderloin, Curry chicken, and shrimp all prepared the local way. All orders seem to come with French fries as well. There is a brewery attached to the same courtyard named “The Swinging Old Lady.” The beer was great, I had the Waka Waka and it was truly delicious, definitely try it if you eat here. If I could, I’d give it a 4.5/5.

Beautiful view from the balcony. We got to see the bridge open several times during dinner. Food was very good. We had the mushroom appetizer with goat cheese that was delicious. My husband had the mixed grill which he liked very much.
I had the fish special corvina with a butter sauce that was very good. We made reservations a few days before to ensure we were seated on the balcony.

Our family of five had dinner here, and it was an overall great experience. The restaurant offers local food and is very conveniently located. After eating, you can walk around and enjoy the beauty of Curaçao. The restaurant itself it’s beautiful and it offers different seating areas.

I had an excellent lunch at De Gouverneur today. The passion fruit juice with lime and mint was incredibly refreshing — one of the best drinks I had on the island. I ordered the keshi yena, which was fantastic and truly unique: a flavorful chicken stew baked inside what feels like a Curaçaoan cheese pot pie. Comforting, rich, and full of local character.
The setting is hard to beat. The patio overlooks the water with a perfect view of the floating bridge, making it an ideal spot to relax, enjoy the breeze, and watch the city come to life. Great service, great food, and one of the most scenic lunch views in Willemstad. Highly recommend.

Of our six days in Curaçao, the Grand Café Gouverneur had the highest quality of service. Saw a patron drop cutlery and a staff who was passing by picked it up and replaced it in a flash – timing and meal progression was expert. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Food was really good but not outstanding – Okonomayaki was delicious if not a delicate portion size. Tried the Keshi Yená, a combination of chicken, tomato, prune and olive smothered in cheese – so unique that I had to try it, and it was really good. Whitefish feature was plated beautifully, a bit light on flavour but cooked nicely. Found the building tricky to navigate and find where we were supposed to go. But view of swinging bridge and ambiance were lovely. Tough to skip this place during a longer visit – deserved a 4.5 star but Google won’t let me 🙁

Our waitress was great! The atmosphere was very cute. I’m extremely upset about the food. The wait for our food was 2 hours. People that arrived after us were served food before us. My food was cold when I received it. The chicken was cooked good but the taste of the sauce was not good. The shrimp had no real taste to it. It’s very disappointing and the price for it was ridiculous.
