Great seafood spot, blackened grouper sandwich, blackened shrimp with yucca are phenomenal. I used to get the deep fried key lime pie, but that’s been pulled off the menu for years now. If you’re in the area and in the mood for fresh seafood this is your spot. Note: inside seating is available however is rather small, most seating is outside so plan accordingly.

After hearing great things about this place, we finally stopped by. The atmosphere is very casual with picnic benches outside and indoor seating. We ordered the conch fritters appetizer, and they were delicious. We travel all over Florida, and the conch fritters were as good as any we have tried in South Florida or the Keys. We ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and the lobster corn dog. Neither disappointed. For people who love no-frills, delicious seafood, this is the place to visit.

This place does not disappoint.
Looking for a fresh cooked grouper sandwich or delicious shrimp corn dog this is the spot to go to.
One of the best seafood spots in Tampa and recently considered a Michelin star restaurant in the bay area.
If you haven’t been it’s a must go destination.
The food is fresh and cooked with love and perfection. Service is fast and friendly. If you go on an empty stomach you might end up ordering the entire menu.

OMG Phenomenal 25 Stars out of 5. The grouper sandwich was amazing. The hand batter onion rings are out of this world. Truly a delicious experience. The coconut shrimp are also mind blowing great. Abby at the cash register and serving is courteous friendly and delightful. She is very welcoming fun and polite. Well done Abby you made the experience spectacular. We will be back since there’s so much more to try

I was excited and had great expectations as its a Michelin restaurant.. My Grouper sandwich was ok, honestly not the best I’ve ever had.. My friend loved his. Crab cake and slaw were not my favorites either. The onion rings and shrimp were the stars of my meal, delicious, light and crispy some of the best I ever had. French fries were good. Maybe my expectations were to high.

We recently had an awesome experience dining at Big Ray’s Fish Camp after finishing a job in the Ballast Point / South Tampa area. This place is a true local gem, and it deserves recognition.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was casual, welcoming, and perfect for a laid-back lunch after a long morning working on roofs. Their seafood is incredibly fresh — you can tell they take pride in quality ingredients and honest preparation. The fried grouper sandwich was crispy and flavorful, served just right, and the garlic parmesan fries were some of the best we’ve had in Tampa.
The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient (always a bonus after a hot day on the job). We also enjoyed the nice local vibe — it’s that kind of place where locals bring friends and visitors feel instantly welcome. With solid craft beer options and great seafood choices beyond the grouper, it’s easy to see why this restaurant consistently earns high recommendations and strong positive reviews from the community.

Absolutely the best grouper sandwich of any restaurant! I do not visit Tampa without a stop at Big Ray’s. Blackened grouper is fantastic. Smoked fish dip is pretty excellent too

We visited Big Ray’s BBQ as a family of three and had the chance to try several entrees, including the Lobster Hot Dog, Fried Shrimp, Grouper Sandwich, and Grouper Reuben. Every dish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor—the side dipping sauces were also excellent and complemented the food really well.
The only miss for us was the Lobster Corn Dog, which came out a bit tough and lacking in flavor, though that may just be the nature of fried lobster. Everything else, however, was absolutely outstanding and exceeded our expectations. The fries deserve a special mention—they were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and had a delicious garlicky kick.
Seating options are abundant, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor area is cooled by large fans, and there’s even additional indoor seating in a separate building, making it easy to find a comfortable spot. The location itself is prime, and the added bonus is free parking, which makes dining here even more convenient.
Overall, Big Ray’s BBQ delivers incredible food in a welcoming, well-thought-out setting. We’ll definitely be back!

Very intimate type of place. There is room for seating probably at a 15-20ppl capacity. The menu has options ranging from quailty seafood or chicken sandwiches that are very filling. As well as salad options with your choice of protein. I ordered the grouper sandwich since I enjoy it at their other location next to the Tampa convention center. Refreshments are Pepsi products and water is provided by fountain and plastic cups. IIf you love grouper this is definitely a good place to get some in tampa bay.

Absolutely everything I was hoping it to be! Tasted EXACTLY as I imagined. Got so many recommendations from locals and I’m glad it lived up to the hype. I ordered the Grilled Grouper Sandwich. It was cooked to order. The fish was very fresh and tasted incredible. The bun was also very fresh and soft. I could have gone without the coleslaw. The sandwich alone was a showstopper. Service was straightforward. No frills dining area not designed for long comfy stays but that’s not what we’re here for 😉 HIGHLY recommended!!
