We heard about Carmella’s Desert Shop and decided to stop there for sweet after dinner. When we walked in, there was a bit of a line, so we had to wait about 10 minutes to order our dessert.

We ordered the Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Ice Cream from the menu. Our cake and ice cream were ready in about 10 minutes!

We started with the Red Velvet Cake. It was smooth and melted in your mouth with each bite. Everyone in our group loved it and it was definitely one of the best red velvet cakes we’ve had.

The ice cream was also delicious! It tasted great and was well-made with great ingredients. Both the cake and ice cream were great dessert choices after dinner.

I stopped by Carmella’s with my boyfriend after dinner. They have drunken shakes (alcohol milkshakes) which was our primary reason for going. It was very tasty, not sure how much alcohol they actually put in it, but I would get it again. They also offer a variety of desserts which looked amazing. The desserts did seem a little pricey but a ton of people were ordering. They have a lot of seating and a lot of other drink options.

This place is an absolute gem! The café and dessert bar itself is adorable, but what really sets it apart is the outstanding customer service. Marco and Max went above and beyond to make our visit special—friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind from start to finish.

They took the time to make recommendations and made us feel so welcome. You can tell they truly care about the experience, not just the order. The desserts were delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the service was next-level.

Thin min martini, cannoli, and red velvet cake was 10/10. We’ll definitely be back—especially for Marco and Max’s amazing hospitality. Highly recommend!

Expect to arrive with wide eyes and depart in a state of perfectly fulfilled, induced surrender. Flawless execution. 5/5 stars. Stopped in after dinner and loved it so much we came back the next day. The variety is diverse and there has to be something that will tantalize your pallette. Pro tip: there is a parking deck close by on Cumberland St.

What a fantastic experience!
Lovely place, lovely vibe, delicious sandwich and desserts. We wanted some hot wine…and one of the fantastic server ladies created a hot wine and tea mix.
It was fabulous!
What a wonderful, welcoming spot Carmella’s Cafe is, thank you!

If I could give this amazing place 10 stars I would. If you are visiting Charleston you must stop here and order the chocolate fudge cake in fact bring several home with you on the plane. These was the best cake I ever had.

While visiting Charleston, came here for after-dinner dessert & coffee a couple nights. First night I had the Tiramisu, house coffee with shot of baileys and finished with an old fashioned. Everything was very good and service was excellent. Second night had the Key Lime pie and a cappuccino. However, there were a lot of grounds in the coffee. I did show the bartender and he promptly took care of it. Overall, a great option for after dinner, late night coffee, dessert or night cap! Good location and vibe. Service was also very friendly and attentive.

We came here on a Friday night and the place was very lively. Due to limited seating, we got a dessert to go. We ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake. It’s a mini cake which could easily serve 4. The cake was rich, decadent and fresh but not too sweet! My only wish is that they had cake slices or cake samplers so that we could try more than one cake without having to buy whole mini cakes.

Wow, wow, wow! Full bar AND desserts? Not just a slice, but a mini cake all for yourself! We tried the key lime pie and the pumpkin cheesecake and both were outstanding. We are from out of town and walked by hit a couple times in the past few days and later it got into the night it got very busy and there was a line out the door so if you go try to hit it early evening after an early dinner and get your dessert in before your night’s festivities!

October is the time to visit!
We tried to visit on the weekend and the line was constantly out the door. That’s how you know it is the place to be.
Visit on a weekday and you can enjoy a drink and people watch without the crowds.

The Espresso martini is better than Henry’s so stop in and get one. The Turkey Asiago Sandwich is a must have as well as the carrot cake.
