Reviews
12/30/24-this is the second time I’ve been here now and I just wanted to update the review. I think this might be my favorite place now as far as the quality of sushi.
Service was pretty good.
2 adults & four kids 8yo and under. I bought a soda for my 7yo, and my 1yo & 3yo shared a small fried rice. I was attempted to be charged for all four!! I probably would have ordered something small for the other ones however they didn’t offer a kid’s menu after lunch!
Finally talked to them into only charging me for two of the kids but as she was walking away she told me that I was supposed to tell her who was eating and who was not eating! (There was only one other table in this restaurant).
Maybe if her 8-year-old son (maybe 8yo) hadn’t delivered almost all of the plates to our table she would have been a little bit more aware of what was going on!
Also be careful because they’ll automatically charge “18% gratuity” for the total of the food (sub total) + taxes….and it’s still comes out to actually 22%!!
Once again I approached what seemed to be the owner’s wife and started pointing this out to her. Her more reasonable counterpart joined in on the conversation as I was pointing this out… He offered to take off $2… And while she’s stood there quietly whispering and smirking to her husband which was obviously nothing but snide comments as far as I’m concerned, I called them out on it.
Can you believe that she had the audacity to tell me that it was only $2 and that nobody else has ever said anything!!! So rationalizing theft! Not just potential theft to me but to literally EVERYBODY that never sat there at the end of their meal added things up to check that the percentages were correct….
After I got them to take away the gratuity entirely, I handed a $20 bill to the 8-year-old kid who did most of the service for the table. But simply out of principle, and once again I need to reiterate the fact that this was maybe the best sushi I’ve had in a long time… I generously tipped her as well… Maybe partially in spite. Because she would have still gotten a better tip than 18% if she hadn’t have tried to wrongfully cram it down our throat.
I know this is a long-winded review, this is just my personal experience. But it is obvious that anyone who has paid the bill without doing the math as been stolen from. I hope whoever is making the food back there doesn’t get any backlash from this because it was amazing.
Good luck, and in my experience is better to treat people like people even in times of need, as typically you get more generosity.
The food was OK. You can’t go wrong with the California roll. The gyoza was good. The teriyaki beef sticks were also good.
The spicy trio of rolls, their most popular pick, was not good. Instead of mashed up fish, maybe try using whole pieces..
All in all, if you’re looking for special rolls, this may not be the place for you. If you are, try the more expensive options to get better quality.
Also, if you need a party tray of sushi for a gathering or event, theirs are an incredible value and they are very accommodating on turnaround time. Some reviews have mentioned slow/bad service-I have to disagree here because when they get very busy, people don’t realize the staff is greatly outnumbered-there are only a handful of people running the show at one time and they do their best to be as fast as possible.
Some rolls to try:
Pink Lady, Rainbow Roll, Spicy City, Falls River, Peanut Avocado or Monkey Roll (both great for dessert!).
By the way, all of the sashimi was grade A.
I recommend this restaurant orders a la carts or all you can eat.
The staff was very polite. Please tip the staff well, if you feel they have an exceptional experience, as we did.
Some photos of our orders are attached.
Kudos to the chef and server!
