Classic small town bar. Cold beer at reasonable prices. Incredible taxidermy on walls. Great burgers, but be aware that kitchen hours are a bit limited. Locally made butter and cheese available for sale. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting Whitewater State Park.

Mauer Brothers’ is a great place to stop for a drink and meet with a friend or talk with locals. The people of Elba were welcoming, and the conversations were real. You’ll learn surprising stories about the people and places there if you take the time to listen. The bar is still owned by the descendants of the original owner from 1890, and there I learned the story of the Fire Tower and that of Black Bill of Elba (and saw his legendary trout mounted). Beer prices were fabulous. Stop here with a friend the next time you’re near Whitewater State Park in the evening!

This place is great. The wildlife mounted on the walls and throughout the building are very cool. Also they have a number of local specialties for purchase, my favorite being the extra hot horseradish. Typical drink selection, and great food. The service is outstanding as well.

This place is great! Good food at very reasonable prices. This place has friendly staff and cold beer. Try their snappy eggs they’re amazing. The area is beautiful with many places to camp, fish, hike, and forests. Wildlife is everywhere in that area.

Don’t ever tell anybody about this place as it’s been my own private dive since a little kid hitting the trout steam back in the 90’s. Really, the atmosphere here is relatively the same. Good people, good company, good pizza and good rootbeer.

Everyone always goes across the street to Johnny’s which is part of the reason I love Mauer’s. Cheap beer and great service because it’s just you and your friends (including the bartender). The food as a whole isn’t that great, but the specialty items are to die for. You have to try the pickled items! And be sure to go home with a bottle of their homemade horseradish. You won’t regret it.

Pretty average for a small town sports bar, was dead around 1030 on a Saturday. A friend got in a fight with local and the staff handled it fine. Good taste in country music though.

I really like this place. I try to stop by if I am in the area fly fishing. It is a comfortable bar with reasonable prices in the middle of a great area to camp, fish and site see.
