Blown away by the portions on this 3 meat plate. Delicious brisket, tangy pulled pork and smokey ribs along with 2 sides, bread and house made tangy sauce.

Went here for Valentine’s Day and it was perfect. Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. When you do your own bbq at home it’s hard to find something that compares. This place compares if not better. Brisket is nice and tender, ribs fall of the bone, sausage is full of flavor and juicy, the pulled pork is full of flavor. The sauces are delicious but honestly no need for sauce. The sides are amazing as well. The dinning area is very clean and casual. Definitely recommend this place. 10 out of 10. We will be back. After my two sons finished their Jiu-Jitsu tournament, we chose Smoke & Meat BBQ in Stockton, CA to celebrate, and it turned out to be the perfect place. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and full of authentic BBQ charm, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal.

The Texas Trio was the highlight of our visit and absolutely blew us away. It came with three sausages of our choice, a full rack of ribs, brisket, and three sides, a huge portion packed with incredible flavor. The ribs were tender with that ideal smoky pull, the brisket was juicy with a beautiful smoke ring and perfect seasoning, and the sausages were hearty and delicious. The sides were just as impressive! the mac and cheese instantly became the kids’ favorite, and the pickled onions and pickles added the perfect bright, tangy contrast that balanced the richness of the meats. Every bite showed clear attention to quality and authentic slow-smoked flavor.

The service was one of the most memorable parts of our visit. The staff treated us with genuine kindness and made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. They interacted with the kids, made conversation, and created a relaxed, home-like environment that made our celebration even more special. The atmosphere was cozy, friendly, and full of positive energy, exactly the type of place where you feel comfortable bringing your family after a long day.

Smoke & Meat BBQ delivered exceptional food, generous portions, and truly outstanding hospitality. The Texas Trio was incredible, the sides were delicious, and the staff made the entire experience feel personal and welcoming. It was the perfect way to celebrate my kids’ tournament, and we will definitely be going back. This place is a true Stockton gem and absolutely deserves a five-star rating.

Tucked away in the cozy, historic Yosemite Village in Stockton, Smoke & Meat BBQ is a true Central Texas–style gem. From the moment you walk in, Jeremy—the welcoming and passionate owner—makes you feel right at home, and his staff, especially Aaron, match that same genuine hospitality that makes this place stand out.

The BBQ here is classic Central Texas style, which means the focus is on the meat itself—slow-smoked over wood, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, and served with incredible attention to texture and flavor. It’s honest, no-gimmick BBQ done the way it should be.

My go-to order is the 2-meat plate with fatty brisket and pork ribs. The brisket is tender with that perfect smoky bark and melt-in-your-mouth richness, while the ribs strike that ideal balance between sweet, smoky, and savory. The sides are top-notch too—creamy potato salad and BBQ beans that pack just the right depth of flavor to round out the plate.

And if you happen to visit on a Friday, don’t miss the smoked shrimp special. It’s a perfect example of Jeremy’s creativity—Central Texas style with a California twist.

Between the friendly faces, the craft behind the smoke, and the old-school charm of Yosemite Village, Smoke & Meat BBQ is everything you want in a BBQ joint: authentic, welcoming, and unforgettable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Brisket Divine, A Feast So Fine”

In Stockton’s heart where smoke does rise,
A holy scent will bless your eyes.
Smoke & Meat—oh what a place,
Where brisket rules with tender grace.

Each slice melts slow, a gift, a prayer,
With peppered bark beyond compare.
The ribs are bold, the sausage sings,
Each bite takes flight on smoky wings.

The mac and cheese brings comfort near,
So creamy, rich, it draws a tear.
Yet beans and slaw, though fair and neat,
Can’t match the depth of smoked-up meat.

Still five bright stars I gladly raise,
For brisket’s crown and pitmaster’s praise.
If heaven served its feast tonight—
Smoke & Meat would get it right.

First drove up and parked, and you could smell the barbecue smoke outside. Walked in very cozy clean atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for an authentic Texas barbecue. I have searched several cities looking for good barbecue and I believe this is one of the best there is. The brisket was tender ,melt in your mouth, the sausage jalapeño cheddar delicious, ribs fall off the bone tender. And of course, if you’re from Texas you know that big red is a staple.

Im really picky about BBQ especially after eating some solid Texas BBQ. A buddy of mine knows this and brought me a couple plates of Smoke and Meat and let me tell you it was the best BBQ I’ve had in California. Very moist and flavorful meats and delicious sides. I was fortunate and got to try most of the menu. The beef ribs, brisket, smoked turkey, chicken, two different sausages…Mac and cheese potato salad coleslaw…didn’t have a bad item. Can’t wait to drive there myself!

Thr brisket here is worth 11 stars. I habe eaten BBQ all over this land and there is nothing. Yes nothing. That compares to this brisket. The ribs were fall off the bone ridiculous, insane delicious. Mac was pretty good, I would give it an A, but the Brisket got an Aa+++ so there’s that scale for ya.

Plenty of room inside for big groups or just a couple. Atmosphere is chill and laid back but the employees are on point. Obviously professionals in their craft.

Easy parking, easy on and off the freeway. Highly recommended. Wish I lived closer!

Being from Texas, I’ve been looking and craving some good bbq. For 26 years I have looked and I have failed. No place out here even compares to a good ol’ Texas bbq, until now. Today I went to Smoke and Meat BBQ. The description of the place described it as as central Texas style bbq. I obviously had my doubts bc, no offense to California, but no one knows how to cook a good brisket and no one knows how to actual bbq any type of meat. The brisket out here is so dry and so tough you need the bbq sauce just to wash it down. That was not the case at Smoke and Meat. The brisket just melts in your mouth. The moment I picked it up it just fell apart. And the seasoning! Your taste buds explodes with the flavor. That’s how you know the meet was BBQed right. A good bbq should never need bbq sauce for taste. (FYI: bbq in Texas doesn’t mean dousing the meat in bbq sauce. BBQ is anything that is cooked on a grill) I also was extremely excited when I saw that they had homemade central Texas sausage! They make their sausage with pork and beef mixed together. The only way to have sausage if u ask me! When I took a bite omg! If I didn’t know any better I would have thought I was actually in Texas! I haven’t had a pork and beef style sausage since I left home! The flavors just explode on your tongue! Everything my bf and I ate was phenomenal! We washed it down with a good ol’ bottle of Big Red soda, a drink that every Texan knows! We got the Texas trio, which comes with 3 meats, a ib a piece and 3 large sides. Not only does Smoke and Meat deliver Texas style bbq and hospitality, but they also offer Texas prices. All that food was only 100. Anywhere else would have been either just as much but less food or way over 100.00. The moment I walked in I felt like I was home. The owner, Jeff, was so friendly. He greeted and talked to every customer that walked through his door. This is something you never really see out here, but is the norm in Texas. Us Texans dont meet a stranger we don’t like. While inside and waiting to be served nastalgia really kicked in. Smoke and Meat decore and set up looked just like every ma and pa meat market that runs rapid in Texas. You have your meat market/butcher on one side and a sitting area on the other. I really felt like I was back home in my small little country town of La Grange! It took 26 years to find a true Texas bbq place and it’s right here in Stockton! If you’re ever in the area I beg you to stop in a try it out!

Best we’ve had in the area. We arrived close to 5pm – they were sold out of most meats. We were only able to try the lamb shank, sausage and brisket. It was all delicious! The sides were also pretty good. We’re definitely going back.
