Super cute little bakery/coffee shop. Pumpkin cinnamon roll and chocolate croissants were great! I stopped for some pastries, and will have to return another time to try their drinks. The shop is really cute and the staff was friendly. I love that the rewards transfer between the bakery and the ice cream shop too. Will be back!

I was really hoping to leave a 5-star review after placing my order, but honestly, even 3 stars feels generous.
I called ahead and asked for a favor— a gender reveal cake with just 24 hours’ notice. Since this wasn’t within their usual turnaround time, they had to get special approval, which I truly appreciated at the time. However, after everything that happened, I regret placing this order.
This cake was for my sister, and when she arrived to pick it up, the requested “Boy or Girl?” lettering was completely missing. They simply forgot. She went back inside and asked them to fix it, and they suggested fondant instead of buttercream, saying it would look better. But that it would take an extra 40 minutes. She lives 40 minutes away, so this was already a huge inconvenience, but she killed time in town.
When she returned, expecting the fondant lettering they had suggested, she was given something completely different—not fondant, not even close. It looks like loose cookie icing. On top of that, she was charged $50 after tip and tax (which she tipped assuming the job would be done correctly), and no one even apologized for the mistake or the wasted time.
If they had just been upfront and told me, “We aren’t skilled enough for the lettering you’re requesting,” I would have understood and taken my business elsewhere. Instead, they accepted the order, botched the most important piece of this reveal, and left us scrambling on a day that was supposed to be special. I’m beyond disappointed.
This makes me unsure if the correct gender color will be inside.
Giving 3-stars for the efforts on the owner/managers part to do this for me/my sister and her husband on short notice.
I’m not looking for a defense and some “reasonable” explanation from the owner of this page, as I see with other bad reviews. A simple I’m sorry and a partial refund would have gone a long way.

Funny how none of this was mentioned to me over text when you only offered a refund as a bribe to take down my bad review. Also kind of crazy to say my sister just “grabbed and left” as if the cake was just sitting out for anyone to grab. She spoke with a snotty blonde who avoided eye contact and gave her the cake. Asked if my sister had already paid, to which my sister said yes, then left. Plenty of opportunity to explain if you ask me.
If the owner could take reasonability and take a bad review maybe they’d run a better business but they’re constantly lying about a situation to save their butt.
I’m not so shocked about the amount of good reviews they have as they have probably offered to pay others off for taking their bad reviews down.
And if the boss really thinks this cake looks good – they’re half the problem lol

Ordered a dessert platter for our Tea Party Bridal Shower…. Every item was beautifully decorated and tasted amazing! Picked up cinnamon rolls for breakfast while we were there and those were absolutely delicious! Would 10/10 recommend and we will definitely be going back.

I live about 45 minutes from the Swansboro area, but whenever I am close by, I always stop at Sweeter Things Cafe! The staff are very friendly and kind, and always greet me as I walk in.
They keep a very updated and exciting specials board. I recently visited and they had an Ozzy Osbourne themed specials menu- I ordered the “Sweet Child of Mine Latte”. Last time I came they had their fall drinks on their specials board. I ordered the “Harvest Moon” and it was spectacular-it should be a regular menu item!
The owner is so kind and seems to really work hard right alongside her employees. I have often seen her behind the counter crafting beverages and preparing pastries plates. She was training a new hire when I visited last and it was clear to me that she was modeling a high standard of service for her newest team member.
I look forward to my next visit!

Not a bakery, a bakery reseller that is a coffee shop. Most of the pastries were dry and not much flavor. Really disappointed as they were always closed when we got ice cream next door. We will NOT be going back. Oh, we tried 7 different pastries and you would HAVE to take a drink of something after. The Peach smoothie was good.
After owner response: OK, but being a “Coffee and tea shop’ that supports bakeries is MUCH different than your title and signage depicts. Nowhere in the title, signage or Google listing am I lead to believe your are a coffee shop since your title states ‘Bakery’ as does your Google Listing. Sweeter Things Coffee and Pastry Shop or something like that would have been better since you ARE a Coffee Shop. Good luck with your business, and the ice cream will always next door will always be the best.

Nice ambiance. Friendly folks. The cheese danish and strawberry danish was incredible. I wasn’t able to try the coffee, but had an iced green tea that was good.
I wasn’t able going to leave a 4-star review because they forgot to make my order and had to be reminded after several customers passed by, but after trying the food, decided that didn’t matter so much. If I was in the area again (staying in Morehead) I would certainly make this drive for the danish alone.

It’s my weekly (sometimes daily) coffee stop and naturally when my sister in law was looking for a cake I recommended sweeter things. They knocked it out of the park. Real buttercream , delicious MOIST cake. I already was a fan but Erin made the ordering process a breeze(thousand questions and chocolate buttercream included) leaving us all free to focus on other wedding chores. We left creative liberty to the team at sweeter things and they delivered! It was the talk of the reception. You can’t go wrong with baked goods , wedding cakes or coffee from Sweeter things. 100000000 stars.

We went early afternoon so the displays had been picked over. However, there was still a variety to choose from, including the day old discounts. We tried the pumpkin coffee cake, peach cobbler Danish and chocolate cruffin with some black dark roast coffee. The pastries were all delicious, nothing drowned in sugar, all well balanced in flavor 10/10 for sure. We’re both picky about our coffee and usually take our own but we were not disappointed. This place cute, love the small café ambience. It was worth the long line we waited in and can’t wait to go back.

Oh I couldn’t be more excited to find a new place! First time I went was on my birthday and they wrote me a cute little note on my take away bag. I had been looking for Macaroon/macaron (sandwich cookie) and they had a great selection of them! Of course I got more than I should have! I also gad them recommended a drink instead of ordering and I got a shark bait blue lotus drink with peach boba and it was amazing!!
I didn’t get to see any of the yummy pastries but have heard great things about them and definitely will go back earlier in the day to take part!
I’m allergic to cinnamon and mango so tend to be kind of picky when it comes to baked items, and they were super cautious about what did have cinnamon in it.
The staff was so kind and patient since I didn’t know what I wanted and wanted them to order for me. I can’t wait to be a regular at this place! Thank you for being here!
