Reviews
This review is for a takeaway order from Lan Noodle in West Hollywood. While one dish was a highlight, the overall experience was severely underwhelming and overpriced.
The only genuinely good part of the meal was the Golden Rice with Chicken. It was quite flavorful, came as a decent size portion, and was definitely the saving grace.
Unfortunately, the rest of the order fell flat. We tried the Braised Beef Noodle with Flat Noodles, which was profoundly underwhelming. The broth was fine, but for the $17.99 price tag, the portion of protein was insulting. I received only four small, approximately one-inch cubes of beef. Seriously, “Where’s the beef?” Charging that much for essentially a bowl of noodles and broth feels like a rip-off.
To top it off, the Sour Plum Drink was bizarrely unpleasant. I was expecting something refreshing and tart, but instead, it tasted strongly of smoke—like I was sucking on a smoked briquette from a barbecue. That extreme smoky flavor is something that absolutely needs to be included in the menu description.
All in all, this was a disappointing takeout experience. Based on the majority of our order, I do not recommend Lan Noodle, especially considering the prices.
Dining in also opens the door to combo sets featuring classic appetizers like chilled cucumber and tofu skin, making the experience even more satisfying. It’s a straightforward shop, but the execution keeps you coming back.
Not only was the noodles good, but it knocked out all of my congestion and headache too.
I’ll definitely be returning.
The spicy beef noodles I always come for, braised or the veg noodles can recommend if you don’t want anything spicy!
Side dishes like the cucumber and shredded potato are great too!
The quality of noodles and soups really exceeds even the ones I had in Singapore so that’s a real compliment !
Noodle size would recommend wide flat ! Bc the texture is great and if you’d like maybe the second flat one too 🙂
We also had the Xiao long Bao but I was starving so I didn’t take a photo lol
First time here and I tell you I am impressed and on awe!
Every dish that we ordered was unique in its own flavor, and freshness from the dumplings, mapo tofu, to the simplest smashed cucumber salad.
My favorite was five spice beef, and the pork dumplings.
All the noodles are made fresh by the special chef and they come in 8 different shape and are made to order.
I will definitely be back to try other dishes.
There’s a good amount of vegan dishes. I love that the mapo tofu doesnt have pork in it like at other restaurants.
My husband liked the beef noodle soup. Perfect noodle texture w thinly sliced beef in a super flavorful broth.
Def coming back here to try more dishes !
