always fantastic chili.
great service. cool old building. been going here for decades, it’s remained consistently great and affordable. chili cheese dog and a cup of chili and a bottle of fitz’s root beer was a little over 12 bucks.
just bummed they don’t have their chili smothered tamales…hope they come back eventually. they were fantastic.

Overall it was an ok experience. Recommend looking up the menu beforehand b/c you won’t be given one. (Primarily local visitors so this makes sense). Also very limited menu available.
Food: Taco Salad was basic, lettuce, tomato, and very little meat. Crushed chips underneath. Somewhat Underwhelming. Those with me had chilli (2.5/5) chili cheese dog (4.5/5), chilimac (3.5/5), so I think the food rating depends of what you order.
Staff was great, very nice and polite, and the building was clean and well decorated.

When I was young my mother always ordered Taylor’s chili to be sent to our house in Wisconsin. She grew up in Carlinville and made Taylor’s our chili in Wisconsin. So one trip we went through Carlinville and Taylor’s fresh from the factory outlet or restaurant. 30 years later under new management and the level of excellence has risen to above that of the founders. Well done well done!

Very disappointed with the food, the vegetable soup was a pureed mix of what? If a person didn’t have teeth they could eat this. We surely were not expecting that, terrible. We also got nachos with meat for 4 dollars extra and there was barely a tablespoon of meat. Won’t be returning a rip-off.

Always 5 star. I’ve been coming since I was a kid. Best chili anywhere in the world. Period. The ladies working are always amazing and so friendly. Only downfall is they are only open 11 am through 2 pm.

Service was good and the atmosphere was nice but the food was not good. We tried the butterbean soup, chili, chili dog and tacos. We couldn’t finish most of what we ordered. Hopefully it was just an off day. We will try again. Would love to support local businesses.
