I pretty much order the same dishes every time: the Sizzling Kang Kung and the Sambal Goreng with Tofu both absolutely delicious and full of flavor. This place may be a little hole-in-the-wall, but it’s definitely a hidden gem.
Service can be on the slower side since there’s usually just one server handling everything, so I recommend being patient. It’s worth it for the food. If you’re a fan of Indonesian cuisine, this is a must-try restaurant!
My 2 BFFs and I went there last Saturday for a lunch date.
We ordered:
Ayam Kalasan (1/2 marinated chicken): Decent taste. Good portion. Tender and juicy, fall off the bone. It’s pretty good but could be seasoned more.
Nasi Bungkus (rice with chicken, egg and some veggies cooked in coconut milk & various spices) : I didn’t eat this, but my friend said it was pretty good. Mild and not spicy. Portion was big enough to be shared by 2 of them.
Kangkung Asap (water crescent veggy stir fried with shrimps and quail eggs): I don’t like this veggy, but my friends loved it. They ordered this every time we went. Big portion as well.
Toge cah ikan asin (beansprout stir fry with salted fish): We all enjoyed this! Big portion. Barely any salted fish pieces in it.. only seen some tiny bits of them. Otherwise, it was yummy!
Ikan goreng sambel (whole fried tilapia with hot sauce): pretty good with decent size & taste. We enjoyed this plate of fish. Could be seasoned more.
Altogether, we spent about $120.00 ish.
This place was good for groups. There is plenty of free parking. They also sell good choices of Indonesian desserts & snacks. Service was okay. Well maintained & clean.
I absolutely love this restaurant and it’s one of my favorites to date. I’ve dined here twice and my experiences have been nothing but positive.
The owner is super sweet/nice and even offered my friend and I homemade sauces to try such as their peanut sauce and their chili sauce – which were both BOMB.
I truly believe every dish is packed with flavor and I have NEVER not liked a dish from this restaurant.
I highly recommend the following:
* Pempek Telor (fried fish cake with egg) – my absolute FAVORITE dish and the sauce is so addicting!
* Nasi Goreng Special (2 fried rice with chicken satay skewers)
Everything is super delicious here and I highly recommend dining here if you love Asian food!
Soto Ayam served with coconut milk, not usually what we had in Indonesia, but it turned out to be a good mix
Sop Buntut was not that authentic, but the way they add in the beans and corn somehow works in an interesting way.
I like their Mei Ayam and Cha Kwei Tiao, both very traditionally Indonesian
Strongly recommend this place if you’re searching for Indonesia taste when in Roland Heights.
But today, we ordered the shrimp with Pete, kangkung, ayam pangang, and otak otak.
We love all the dishes except for the otak otak (because we felt the Malaysian version is better)
