I gotta say this is my new favorite spot for sushi! The misses and i went and we were not disappointed! We sat at the bar, ordered four rolls and ended up chatting with chef and waitress well after closing. These guys stay busy, so i feel really lucky to have had such a personal dining experience for the first time being there. I look forward to coming back and making this place a regular stop

I attempted to visit Sosumi before a number of times, however they always seemed to be closed (at 6 pm on Friday?). Today, they were open for lunch. I thought it was odd that you ordered at the counter, it really cheapened my experience. Although I did tell the server it was my first time here, she did not offer me any suggestions or explain anything. If I had never had sushi before, I would’ve been quite lost.
I was very disappointed there wasn’t a lunch special. I have never been to a sushi restaurant that did not have an option with a meal that came with a salad or miso, and tea. My roll was good, not excellent or bad. Just good. Not worth the $14 I paid. My dumplings were delicious, however I don’t believe they are made in house.
Would I come back? Probably if friends wanted to come. It wouldn’t be my first choice.
Ugh. Edited to add that when the waitress came she brought this horrid green book. Its falling apart, has food spilled on it and looks filthy. Definitely not something I want anywhere near my food! Eww.

Absolutely phenomenal. Best sushi I’ve ever had. Miso Ramen is incredible as well. Everything is just packed with flavor and was super fresh tasting. They make everything right in front of you too which is really cool. Had some trouble catching them when they were open, but it was well worth the wait. Can’t wait to come back. The owner gave me a free shrimp dumpling too which was also amazing.

Always a great atmosphere. Friendly service with lots of laughs. The sushi chef is amazing! Not only is the food he creates delicious but it’s also art worthy. I highly recommend Sosumi Sushi. You won’t be disappointed. I give 5 hearts to this well run establishment.❤❤❤❤❤

Such good sushi! This is the only quality sushi place for miles. They just introduced sidewalk seating, too, for take out. Great idea! Everyone is very friendly and I can tell they take pride in their food.
My only disappointment is that the gentleman preparing my sushi was not wearing a mask. Especially in the Covid-19 era, this is essential. Another employee was wearing one, though.

This is honestly some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. It’s a little pricey compared to places in Okemos or Lansing but the quality is definitely worth what you’re spending.
However, my missing star comes from the frustration of trying to catch them when they’re open. I’ve never had to deal with a rude employee like some reviews state, but I’ve found their hours of business to be incredibly frustrating. There’s been multiple times I’ve called well within the business hours posted and have had no luck. I’ve been told one excuse as to why they were not taking orders that day and read a different excuse on Facebook on the same day.
If you don’t mind a serious hit or miss with when this restaurant is open then I’d give it 5 stars. Awesome food, frustrating actually getting that food at times.

Second time ordering from here and the food is okay. Spent just about $70 tonight for 2 California rolls and 2 speciality rolls and miso soup. I wanted the Cali rolls with no cucumber but they came with cucumber and a spicy mayo that was ordered for the California rolls was missing from the order. Kind of disappointing since the spicy mayo makes the whole roll. Not the best second impression but might consider going back since we dont have many options with no other sushi places in the area

The food is amazing. The owner is the chef. James Gutting does an amazing job. Soo many different varieties. My youngest son’s love eating here. Everything we’ve tried is delicious and the prices are exceptionally affordable.
