So this by far has to be some of the best fried Chicken that I have ever tasted in the Chicago land area. Everything about it is what you’d expect and more. It’s juicy, crispy and extremely flavorful. I had the sweet Thai chili and the original. I definitely recommend trying the original before trying the flavors because it is so worth it. The sweet Chilli Thai was exactly what you’d expect. Sweet with a little bit of a kick and finger licking good for real.
And I have to mention the sides. The Macaroni is absolutely amazing. And I can make a pretty good Mac myself. But this by far has beaten the recipe that runs in my family. When I say fye I mean it. Will have you knocking on the door for more.
Also have to give the red beans and rice an honorable mention because whatever she cooks those beans in will have your mouth watering for seconds.
I give this restaurant a 5 out of 5 and I will be back no doubt about that

While on the West Side I wanted Soul Food . We choose Vari’s , Our first time . Pleasantly surprised we ordered , our meal was cooked to order fresh and hot . I had the fried ribs ! Excellent, tender and seasoned to perfection. We also had greens and Mac and Cheese . Mrs Sea had the wings . Everything was delicious. No sauce needed we tried food with no sauce before we judged. Our Early Dinner was great we recommend. The Gospel Music on Sunday was a Plus

The food was absolutely amazing. My family came in from out of town and found this restaurant from google and man were we not disappointed. The fried pork ribs and fried chicken were seasoned sooo good. The lamb chops were absolutely amazing. Everything was good and spot on. The only thing is being that we were out of town for dining in we didn’t know if we had to seat and be greeted or order at the window. Other than that 10 out of 10 recommend. The owner and staff were so friendly and hospitable.

My new favorite hidden gem. Food is fresh and flavorful! The fried ribs are seasoned to perfection, no sauce needed! The sides are great as well, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, greens, spaghetti, rice and gravy was all delicious, the hardest part is deciding which ones to get! Catfish was seasoned well and crispy! Don’t forget the kool aid to bring it all together! Service is welcoming, music selection is great! Owner is super nice and has great hospitality as well, will definitely continue to try more from this menu.

The Soulf Food Egg Roll is technically rectangle. The best thing about it for me the food is pack together and touching. So, if you are a person that does not like your food to touch too bad so sad for you. The Catfish is breaded and seasoned properly and quite tasty. The worst thing was my fries. The photo shows that they were blanched and served ro me nothing more disappointing than undercooked fires.

Vari’s was my first experience of fried ribs. To be honest, I had never heard of it but I love ribs so it was a must try. When I say absolutely delicious, trust me! The ribs were amazing along with the sides. I had greens and mac cheese. I have also tried the chicken and catfish on different visits. Vari’s just does a great job and it’s apparent the food is made with love. The vibe is cool and it’s nice for a casual dining experience, date night, or solid takeout.

I Ordered through doordash .. food was a solid 7.5… I specifically called to make sure they added the tarter sauce..order came .. and no tarter sauce, its the little things that matter you know. .. the soul rolls were good but it needs a house made dipping sauce to set it off besides the prepackaged sweet and sour sauce. … Also it says rolls so I assumed 2 would come with it, but it was only 1 .. so maybe specify that in the description more .Everything was good overall.. I probably should’ve gotten some dessert.

The worst soul food. I had a fried rib tip meal . It was so nasty . The rib tips were extra salty some were over cooked. The sweet potatoes was sugar and syrup mashed up it had a dirty nasty taste. The Mac n cheese was so nasty.. I don’t know what they used and it was cold when they gave it to me. I couldn’t eat the food and was press for time because I was headed to work. They gave a mild sauce the lid came off on top of my sweet potatoes. It was the grand opening day . And it deserves no stars I will not return I put the entire meal in the trash can . I had no time to go back .

Tomorrow is my husband and I anniversary! We came to city to take pictures and decided to find a soul food restaurant near north Riverside.
Vari’s popped up, so we took our chances on this spot.
We ordered the soul Rolls and the 11 wings everything was delicious those wings were pipeing hot…
My only problem was our hostess young girl with braids slim, no smile very dry my husband had to ask her was everything ok with her.
I’d go here again and again. I met the owner also very Polite woman and very welcoming
