This is a Japanese restaurant that focuses on Omakase style sushi. The weird thing about this place is where it is located as it could be a challenge to find. Its part of another sushi restaurant where it occupies the basement. But once you get here, the food is good and tasty. The staff is engaging, friendly, and professional. Overall, we had a good experience here.

Easily one of the best omakase meals I’ve had. From the food, service, even the little details – everything was INCREDIBLE and we couldn’t recommend this place more. We only wish we lived closer to go often but will come back anytime we’re in town.

I especially love how much the chef cares about the ingredients and has a unique spin on certain dishes that make it so memorable. If you’re on the fence you should definitely give it a try.

This is the highest quality sushi I’ve ever tasted in New York. Except for the first appetizer, which was not ideal, the other appetizers and sushi were much higher quality. The chef’s skills are also very outstandingly. I will come to this restaurant again.

We’ve been to Sushi Amane several times — even under different chefs — and it remains one of our favorite omakase spots in the city. The fish is top quality, the small seasonal dishes are refined, and the pacing always feels just right.
We love omakase in general, and Amane’s relatively fair price point makes it a place we return to again and again. Consistently satisfyiny.

An intimate omakase experience with only eight counter seats in a hidden basement of the restaurant. The chef was friendly and welcoming, and each dish was crafted with meticulous care and stunning presentation. I especially loved the steamed abalone, uni rice, otoro nigiri, uni nigiri, and the hand roll at the end. The course was served at a perfect pace, and the attentive service and cozy atmosphere made for a wonderful meal to celebrate a special occasion.

It was first time for us to visit here after the chef changed. We were kind of in doubt after the original chef left but we can gladly say they kept the quality up. Each sushi is really great and the small dishes were amazing too especially the Uni rice was to die for.
Chef is really friendly and fun to talk to so it’s perfect for solo diner too. Very cozy private restaurant so it’s good for solo or a date or very very small groups.

Price is okay, decent for a Michelin. Food tastes pretty good and is visually pleasing. The servers and chef are very attentive to details.

However, both of us had extreme diarrhea after the meal with no allergies to food. Still on the toilet after 1 day. Questionable quality and freshness.

Food is great and service is amazing too. One of the best omakase I had in nyc. Chef is very professional and their Japanese service makes you feel so comfortable rather than those who ask for high tips.
Every pieces of sushi is so fresh and perfectly prepared. The monkfish liver is so smooth and melting in my mouth. Scallop is very fresh so is the uni.
Only thing is that the appetiser portion could be slightly bigger. Overall 10/10. Highly recommended!

I loved my experience here at Sushi Amane. I know their chef is changed but still the food remains it quality. Every cut is legit for the fish and sushi rice is done to the point. It fits my expectations for a michelin one star establishment. Service is great and attentative. I can barely hear the walking sound of the waitress. It gives great sushi if you are around the area.

Really stunning omakase that indulges every taste bud in your mouth. This restaurant is hidden in the basement underneath a different sushi restaurant. You must reserve ahead of time, up to a maximum of 4 people per party. The sushi bar we sat in has enough seating for maximum of 8 people.

The sushi chef was masterful with his craft, slicing fish and rolling them with great precision. Occasionally he would taste the fish to make sure they were fresh. This was the first restaurant I’ve seen where the chef flipped open the sea urchin to check for contaminants in the center.

We received about 21-23 pieces of sushi in total. I simply lost count after eating so many of them. Every single piece was delicious, rich in flavor, and a wonderful experience.
