We walked in and were immediately greeted by a gentleman who told us to sit where we liked. My wife and I approached the bar and hung out there for a bit while we figured out if the outside was open. We were approached by a bartender, he introduced himself as Matt and he let us try a few beers before we landed on our choices. He was cool and talked us through the menu. While we waited for our friends we ordered pretzels and asked if we could sit outside.
We moved our stuff outside and sat at a table that was fully in the sun. Grabbed a few extra chairs and cleaned everything off ourselves (again, totally cool with this as it’s March and we didn’t have high expectations)
If I was rating our service on the top part alone I would give it a 5/5 for sure, but it was everything that followed after. The homemade pretzels came out with just one of the 2 sauces it came with. When we asked the food runner she said it was cheese sauce. We questioned it because it tasted a lot like mustard, had seeds and was cold, but she assured us it was the cheese and she would bring us out honey mustard dressing. She said all the sauces come cold and almost convinced us the first sauce was cheese. Once the bartender came out to check on us we asked and he grabbed us the actual cheese sauce.
Our friends had arrived at this point and placed their order for drinks, onion rings their own pretzels and waters. The pretzels looked great, they were braided and cooked through with a nice crust. They tasted more like a plain bread than anything else.
A few minutes later we ordered another round and some more food.
Four waters came out with the other order of pretzels but a few of them had something floating in them. No onion rings in sight. This is when everything really went downhill. We asked for a new water and the bartended got angry with us. Told us we were killing him with all the back and forth. (He had come out twice at this point and we saw the food runner more) he came back with another water and hit us with an abrupt apology. At this point we decided it was probably just easier for us to move inside. We grabbed everything on our table and came in.
As soon as we came in our food was coming out to the table. Veggie quesadillas, fish and chips, and 24k wings. Still no onion rings. When we asked it turns out they were never added to any order. The same gentleman who greeted us came to the table to inquire about our missing order. He was kind and took care of the issue right away, made some onion rings and comped them. Which we appreciated.
The wings and onion rings were fantastic! The sauce for the wings was flavorful? They were cooked just right and extra crispy. Even the bleu cheese was flavorful!
The quesadilla was okay and the fish and chips were very bland and off. The pieces were thick and dry inside, the batter was flavorless. Personally we wouldn’t order again.
We didn’t see Matt again until the check. He came to take care of the table next to us and we tried to joke with him to get his attention. We would have ordered another round but he didn’t seem into it.
When we got the bill we tipped 18%.. the service wasn’t really there once we left the bar in front of him. He complained to us, gave us a hard time. It just didn’t seem right to go any higher. He apparently thought this was wrong, as he proceeded to talk loudly about it inside the bar to everyone who would listen and we sat right there.
If someone could guarantee the only worker I would interact with was the man who greeted us, I’d come back for the wings and a beer in a heartbeat. But aside from that, the service and experience just isn’t worth it for me.
The place was also beautifully decorated for the holidays!
I’ll be back soon!
