This is a locals restaurant that is true to its online ratings. First, Jamal killed it with service. He was interactive, spot-on with timing, had excellent food recommendations and just pleasant to have serving us, the bread and olive oil was the only disappointment of the dining experience as the olive oil had no taste, like they were using a general use, bulk olive oil. The chicken fettuccine and canniloni were excellent main dishes with excellent taste, texture and portions. The red sangria was another excellent accompaniment. The dining experience was finished off with dessert, a scrumptious tasting pecan butter caramel dish. Amerigo is a local favorite and now is this Jackson visitor’s favorite. 5 stars overall.

Great dining experience. Our server Emmy was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt. From the time we stepped into the restaurant we had a great experience. We walked around the Fondren area for a while before dining at Amerigo’s. We enjoyed the ambiance as the restaurant was a very pleasant establishment. The majority of our party started with the bisque. Very hearty and flavorful. Also paired well with the bread. The star of the dining experience was the main courses. We had seafood pasta and the 3 cheese tortellini. Our food was delicious!!! The pasta had great sauce, packed with flavor! The tortellini was also flavorful and delicious! We enjoyed every dish and will definitely return to enjoy great dishes! Great experience!!!

An incredible dining experience from start to finish! The food was bursting with authentic Italian flavors—every bite tasted homemade and full of love. The service was exceptional: friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed. The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, making it ideal for both date nights and family dinners. Truly a slice of Italy right in our city—can’t wait to come back for more pasta, pizza , and tiramisu!

Went to Amerigo to treat myself after a long day at work. The vibe set in for my dinner partner and I when all of the table lights dimmed at once shortly after 8 o’clock, adding to the classic swinging jazz played over the speakers as the background to our conversations. Our meal was preceded by a plate of fresh bread accompanied by a dish of dipping oil infused with herbs, and my seafood pasta was so flavorful!

The food and atmosphere was great. Food can out in a timely manner. The wait service is not satisfying. The waitress was a ghost. I dont remember my server name but it was a Caucasian female early 20 yrs. I did witness other waiters working hard and taking care of their tables. I just got the wrong table.

I have been to this particular location several times and I have had an amazing experience. But, I really don’t appreciate ny children and I being overlooked! I arrived here around 6:50 and didn’t leave until 9:15. Our waiter, which was very nice, was leaving work at a certain time. We had the cheese fritter, for our starter. Now, in past time, they were AMAZING. But, tonight they were overcooked…you could taste the burned flavor on the crust. I didn’t say anything about it. We waited the normal waiting time for our meals, to be prepared. I ordered the seafood pasta, the kids spaghetti and the kids pepperoni pizza. My daughter’s meatball wasn’t thoroughly cooked in the middle. So, Matt, another waiter, offered to get us another one. We ate a little more and then we waited on, SOMEONE…ANYONE, to come check on us and receive our bill. We finally were offered To-Go boxes and our bill. I assumed as soon as I put my card inside of the checkbook, that Matt would take it. He didn’t! My children and I are tired, at this point. So, I waited patiently the entire time, I was there and I was in disbelief, of how we were being overlooked. I do understand that our original waiter was leaving work at a certain time l, and that Matthew had other customers to tend to. But, my family are customers, as well. My children fell asleep and I had to stand up, for him to come get my card, pay for our dinner.

After completing a successful work event (12/13/25), my mother and I chose to dine at Amerigo in Fondren. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning.
We were seated at 5:21 PM. By 5:45 PM, no one had come to our table. We did not receive water, bread, oil, or even an acknowledgment from our assigned waitress. During this time, the assigned waitress repeatedly walked past our table without acknowledgment, often with her head turned away.
It is important to note that at the time, my mother and I were the only Black patrons in the restaurant, while the hostess and waitstaff were white. While I do not make accusations lightly, the lack of basic service, combined with being visibly ignored, created an uncomfortable atmosphere that could not be overlooked.
After waiting more than 20 minutes without service, I approached the hostess to address the issue. She apologized and stated it was a miscommunication regarding seating. I explained that miscommunication did not excuse a server completely ignoring guests seated in her section. The hostess responded, “Well, we can fix it.” I informed her that we would be leaving. Her reply—“You’re more than welcome to take your business elsewhere”—was dismissive and inappropriate given the situation.
We left immediately. I then contacted the manager, who was apologetic and professional. She explained that the hostess should not have seated us as it was her first night and offered to comp our meal or send a gift card. While I appreciate the manager’s response, the damage had already been done. My mother and I both agreed that the atmosphere simply did not feel right, and we did not feel valued as customers.
This experience was not about impatience—it was about being completely overlooked and dismissed. Every guest deserves basic courtesy and service, regardless of race.
I hope Amerigo will take this feedback seriously, provide additional staff training, and ensure that all patrons are treated with dignity and respect.

My sister & I have eaten at this location weekly since early August. Our waiter Jamal is an excellent server, remembers allergies and preferences and always is friendly and efficient. Wild mushroom ravioli is scrumptious and the chicken margharitte is delicious. Definitely this place is a favorite!

Sat down at bar to order Togo and waited over 12 minutes to even be greeted. Young blonde bartender was very flustered and when I ordered my beer, he couldn’t find it- the very nice female manager came over- and he slammed his hand on the terminal and said “where the hell do we keep the sips”. She calmly helped him but he never seemed to be unable to catch his breath and recover. Unprofessional and made me nervous to ask for anything else. Love this establishment and hope they can correct this young man’s behavior.
