So drooling about the leftovers I rushed home and made the sandwich, still delicious!
Thank you for everything you do and enjoy your well deserved time off my friends.
Stumbled upon this place during my vacation in Derry. They’re only open Friday–Sunday, but catering gigs knock them out of service one or two days a week. I learned that the hard way earlier this year, so definitely check their site before making the trip.
When I came this past Sunday, the line wasn’t bad. Just 3–4 teams ahead, and I had my order within 20 minutes. The menu offered a solid spread of meats plus rotating weekly specials. We went with brisket, ribs, and their signature peach belly bites.
Our favorite here was the peach belly bites. Sticky, smoky, with that sweet fruitiness cutting through the fat. They don’t fully render the fat, so the grease can edge toward heavy, but I didn’t mind it. The “Everlasting” slaw was just as good. No sweetness, just clean and crisp, and essentially a lifesaver for the leaner cuts.
As for the ribs and brisket, they were decent. Definitely stronger than anything I’ve had in MA, but after a visit to 603 Bar-B-Q (the better-known Concord spot), they felt a little underwhelming. Some rib edges ran dry, and I had to shovel slaw alongside the brisket just to make it through the lean parts.
The line was no match for the crew.
Got a pound of the peach tea pork belly. The smoke flavor was great, and it’s important to note that it was not overwhelming.
Jalapeño sausage is a must try.
If you leave without trying the brisket, you should be ashamed. Many places struggle to nail the brisket. Not these guys.
Oh, and get the mac and cheese before they run out. Fortunately, I did.
10/10 would recommend.
Don’t let the prices scare you, you get what you pay for in quality and quantity.
The ribs we got to eat today, the next day. These things are still amazing, even a day later and my ‘not so professional’ reheat . Just as smokey, just as flavorful and still Bite-Off-Bone tender.
Also not pictured here is their Peach Tea Pork Belly Bites. Words cannot describe them, just phenomenal. Perfect texture, great structure and amazing sweetness from their Peach Tea glaze. This needs to be an every week item!
No sauces needed on anything. But if you like to add a flavor boost, their OG sauce and Alabama White are great options.
I can confidently say Messy Mike’s Barbecue has stepped it up a notch since the new owners have taken over. 10/10 can’t wait to go back
Good job guys keep up the good work.
