We had a little of everything from the menu and I’ll confidently say EVERYTHING is good. You can’t go wrong. We were also lucky enough to have some rare aged albino caviar which was simply divine.
The trout cru appetizer is a must have if you’re a fan of fish. The suggested wine pairings were perfection with our choices as well. The environment was great and though lively, still felt cosy and intimate enough for our dinner. The “Easy Rider” cocktail is also a must have!! There’s a very nice selection of dessert drinks alongside actual dessert. You won’t be disappointed!
Honestly the only hiccup of the evening was the fact that I encountered some bones in the last bite of my bass.
The final chocolate course was delicious, but the presentation had a slight drawback. While the bird’s nest concept with the green leaves was visually striking, the materials used for the box had a strong, unpleasant scent that interfered with the experience. Focusing on scent neutral decorations would make this detail as perfect as the chocolate.
For the food, we started off with Pumpkin Gnocchi and the Venison Tartare. I could eat the tartare every day of the week! Both of this starters were excellent. We then moved on to the mains where my wife ordered the lamb and I the duck. Both of those dishes were excellent as well! Super creative. Finished the meal off with the crème brûlée and the pumpkin cheesecake. Chefs kiss.
We will definitely be dining in at Avize again in the future. This place is special!
I love the creative yet intentional menu. It’s built from thoughtfully sourced, seasonal ingredients. Some dishes were a bit daring, but it worked. Everything from the cocktails to starters to mains were stellar. Overall, Avize was a delightful dining experience
You might think you know an ingredient, but Avize will reintroduce it to your palate.
For those hosting, the “Jewel Box” provides a stunning setting for private dining, while the overall hospitality is well-suited for larger groups looking for a seamless, upscale event.
The main dining room offers a moody, “chalet-chic” ambiance. With curved banquettes and an open kitchen, it is perfect for an intimate dinner.
1. The service was quite slow
2. We were not told just how little in the way of accompaniments come with each meal. Had I known, I would have ordered more side dishes. But by the time my main dish came, I’d already waited for so long that I didn’t feel like placing another order. So my meal ended up being quite unbalanced and protein-heavy.
