Reviews
The tour is relaxed, informative, and perfect for anyone who enjoys learning how wine is made without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of what they do.
The building itself is beautiful—sunlight through the windows, stainless steel tanks, and that signature upstairs view that always feels like a little reward at the end.
There’s a great mix of locals and visitors, and the whole experience has an easy, upbeat energy.
Whether you’re here for the tour, the music, or just to explore something new, San Sebastian is always a solid stop.
There are also some original items not usually seen in the shops. Good prices for such great wines!
Extremely Disappointing Experience / Not Consistent Service
Our party of 37+ attended this event, and unfortunately, this year’s experience was drastically different from last year’s — and not in a good way.
The first half of the evening was incredibly disappointing. Upon arrival, the gentleman at the front failed to inform us that a wine glass purchase was required to participate in the tasting. Two guests in our group were first-time visitors, and instead of explaining the process, we were simply told our party was already inside. When we returned to purchase the plastic wine cups, we were asked to step aside and wait while new guests checked in — despite already being paying customers.
The experience at the downstairs wine bar was equally frustrating. The older gentleman serving there immediately told us we were “all set to go upstairs” before we had even tasted any wine. When I approached the bar, he directed me to place my glass down and appeared eager to move us along rather than provide an actual tasting experience. The pours were minimal — more of a drop than a sample.
In sharp contrast, the two younger staff members upstairs were welcoming, attentive, and generous with their pours. They allowed guests to hold their glasses and provided what felt like a genuine tasting experience. Their professionalism and warmth were the highlight of the evening.
Unfortunately, the inconsistency in service made the first half of the event feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming compared to last year. For a large party spending money and supporting the business, the difference in treatment was noticeable.
We hope management addresses these service discrepancies to ensure all guests receive the same quality experience throughout the venue.
The tasting assistants are very knowledgeable & ready to answer any question. For instance, during my tasting experience, I learned the Ruby Port is aged in whiskey barrels the come from the distillery up the road. How cool is that?
