We first found this place during Christmas holidays. Originally our out of town family wanted to go to Sushi fever, but they couldn’t accommodate reservation of 14 people. So happy we found this place. Everything we ordered was great. Our favorite is ordering land & sea sushi! Highly recommend

Very quaint and peaceful restaurant. The booth was comfortable and the server was polite and attentive. We came for a late lunch so they were not busy, but everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The bento box and ramen were well made. The sushi was top notch we had the Yummy and Mango rolls. We devoured everything. Definitely a great place for sushi when visiting Austin.

My wife and I went back to Ichi Umi Sushi, formerly known as Haru, while visiting family during the holidays and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience.
When this place was Haru it was hands down our favorite sushi spot in Austin. We craved it constantly and talked about it even after moving to California. The rolls were always flavorful well balanced and memorable which made this return visit something we were genuinely excited about.
Right away the menu felt overwhelming. It used to be simple and now it is extremely long and difficult to navigate. But the bigger issue was the food. We ordered several of our old favorites including the Wildflower, Black Widow, Crush on You, Foxy Lady, and Redwood rolls.
The Redwood and Foxy Lady were okay but still not what we remembered. The rolls were noticeably smaller than before and lacked the depth of flavor they once had. The Black Widow, Wildflower, and Crush on You were the biggest letdowns. The sauces and spicy mayo were overpowering and in some bites overly spicy to the point where you could barely taste the fish. The balance that made these rolls special before just was not there.
The Wildflower in particular used to be incredible with its mix of mango tuna salmon soybean paper and orange miso sauce. This time it completely fell flat. The Crush on You was inconsistent from bite to bite with either no goat cheese or too much of it dominating the roll.
I am not sure if ownership changed or if something else happened but this no longer feels like the Haru we loved. That was honestly the hardest part. This place held a lot of great memories for us and it was disappointing to see such a drop in quality.
I hope they can find their way back to what made this spot special because it truly used to be one of the best sushi spots in Austin. Unfortunately this visit just missed the mark for us.

Yo the sake toro is so good here.
Other nigiri is good too, but that one is my favorite!!
The hot house sake is also nice.
Ambience is very cozy for a date and it’s easy to hear the other person.

Consistently good sushi across the multiple dishes that we ordered, including hamachi, o toro, A5 wagyu, kaisen don, and the Mopac roll. The selection and variety of dishes/rolls is great, and the portion sizes/value are decent.

Every time I go here it’s 10 out of 10, highly recommend. One of the best sushi spots on the Northside of Austin. Always satisfied when I eat here as everything is fresh, tasty, and decently priced.

Great seafood place in Texas! Never thought I would get decent sushi place while visiting in Texas, but yes I really liked the Mero seabass here. Sashimi sampler is also great for its price!
Food did take a bit to comeout but i guess they were cooking it from scratch. Would come here again!

Really solid sushi restaurant. Although it’s Japanese, the waiter and the hostess were speaking Mandarin Chinese when deciding what table to put us at (totally fine, just outside my expectation). The atmosphere feels nice and relaxed. My wife got the bento box with eel and I got two types of rolls; Texas and Philadelphia. Really tasty!

I ordered the California Roll, Squid Teriyaki, and Seafood Udon. Out of the three, the California Roll was the best. I was a bit disappointed to find that the seafood wasn’t very fresh—the squid and the seafood in the udon weren’t up to par. The atmosphere inside was pretty comfortable, and the staff were friendly, but they really need to work on the freshness of the squid.
