Update: We came back for Sunday brunch, and it was great. Miss Claire took wonderful care of us, and my husband said his eggs were perfect. The hot chocolate was also the best we’ve had in years.

Awesome food, legendary service. Miss Sarah is the best ever! We really enjoyed meeting her — amazing conversation — and we can’t wait to do the zombie pub crawl tomorrow ‍♂️. By the way, the pit beans were excellent. So was the salad . Can’t wait to come back. ✨

If your looking for that one of a kind, nostalgic drive-in dining experience that truly encapsulates a true piece of Americana, fire up that favorite vehicle of yours, rev it’s engines and head straight to Don Hall’s Hollywood Drive-In. You will receive the best hometown service and absolutely delicious one of a kind meals. While you are there, say Hi to Misty, Michelle, one of the other up-and-coming superstar staff, and if you are lucky enough to hear about and or meet the retired OG legendary Car Hop Deb, greet them with kindness and leave them with the tips they so desrve!

It appears Don Hall’s made a name for himself with at least ten apparently successful restos in the Ft. Wayne area. I have not had the pleasure of patronizing the nine other than Don Hall’s Hollywood Drive-in, and we’d wished we’d tried one of the others. I must say, none of my party of three were at all impressed! Patriarch Hall apparently opened Hollywood Drive-in in 1946, his first of multiple restos and by their early values of quality, value, taste and service literally unknown to us in today’s world, this establishment lacks an expectation of moderate potential or enhanced value for the patron. Don Hall’s Hollywood Drive-in servers and staff know what hospitality is, your clean and adequate interior décor, seating and design is quaint albeit dated, and the atmosphere are mid-century chic. But unfortunately, the reality sets in when what one is explicitly here for eating, doesn’t satisfy the expectancies offered – they are simply not delivered. Considering they offer a relatively extensive menu such as breakfast varieties, goodly amount of lunch and dinners offerings, with appetizer and starters; shakes, malts and frosty’s; burgers; fish sammiches; grilled cheese; desserts and more, appearance can be deceiving. My Wife and Sis tried two atrocious Frosty Coffees, and I had a decent Iced Tea. My companions both went for the Deep-Fried Chicken Sandwiches with simple American cheese, some shredded lettuce, and their secret sauce, whatever that was. The girls stated these items were not worth writing home about and were less than satisfying, with unfinished portions left behind. I had the Beef Liver and sauteed Onions, with lumpy thick mashed potatoes and a horridly bland mac and cheese. The servings we consumed, although a small sample of the options offered and not a testament to the overall taste and value of other dishes, yet were lacking in presentation, impenitently sad, gave the appearance of inferior quality and honestly was not pleasing to overall visual and palate. As most Yelp, Google and/or Tripadvisor readers will attest, I have very few less than favorable reviews in my repertoire, so in a way, I hope Don Hall’s Hollywood Drive-in looks upon this as a way to enhance its platefuls to a more patron friendly flavor expectation as opposed to simply quotidian fare. Bon appétit and caveat emptor.

Tldr; Big portions. Fair prices. Great staff.

We dive by here all the time and see it’s busy but have never gone in. Today, that changed, and boy was it good. Burgers seemed to be a popular choice on reviews so we got the signature burger with extra veggies and onion rings. They understand the assignment and loaded me up on veggies! The burger was juicy and tasted good. Onion rings were some of the best I have had in a long while.

We also got the sub-mariner (fish sandwich) to share something different. It was also really great. The fish had the perfect batter and wasn’t dry.

Staff were all friendly and prompt, can’t ask for much more.

We will be back to try out some more offerings for sure.

This has been one of my favorite places since I was young. The best comfort food and friendliest service. Whenever we come back to Fort Wayne we always make a point to eat here. It’s a little taste of home. The German chocolate cake is famous.

It had been a minute since we had been there, and my 14 year old daughter wanted American food, so we decided to stop in. The Hoosier Pork Tenderloin was easily one pound. It was double the size of the bun and thick! It wasnt paper thin like so many places. I also had Big Buster because that’s what you do. You can’t go there without getting one.
We had an amazing server in Lisa M. She checked in on us regularly, kept the drinks flowing, and took really good care of us. She essentially had our entire area and was constantly on the move taking care of all of her guests the same way. Servers like her deserve to be recognized for going above and beyond and treating us like family. Thank you, Lisa! You were amazing!

We decided to try this place for our date night since neither of us had ever been. The food was ok, my chicken fried steak sandwich was decent but the wifes turkey club wasn’t. Amanda R. our server was very nice and super attentive. Where we were seated, we could hear the kitchen and wait staff yelling and cussing at each other. One waitress, not ours, opened a ketchup bottle safety seal with her teeth right in front of us…GROSS! The atmosphere was disappointing, the interior is dated, and it could use some deep cleaning and attention to detail. Overall, we can say we’ve been there but probably won’t go back.
