Peel Wood Fired Pizza is one of those places where you walk in thinking, “Yeah, I’ll grab a pizza,” and walk out wondering if you should send the chef a thank‑you card, a fruit basket, or maybe even a heartfelt apology for ever doubting them.

From the moment we stepped inside, the place had that warm, wood‑fired glow — the kind that whispers, “Relax, you’re about to eat something magical.” The staff greeted us with the perfect balance of friendliness and “we know you’re hungry, let’s get you fed.”

Now, Peel’s menu is basically a trap — everything sounds good, so you start negotiating with yourself like you’re drafting a peace treaty. But once that pizza hits the table, all internal debates end. The crust? Absolute perfection. Lightly blistered from the wood fire, chewy in the right places, crisp where it counts, and sturdy enough to hold toppings without folding like a cheap lawn chair.

The toppings taste fresh enough that I briefly wondered if they had a secret garden out back. Every bite had that smoky, wood‑fired kiss that makes you close your eyes for a second and pretend you’re a food critic on TV.

And the atmosphere? Lively without being loud, stylish without being snobby, and filled with the kind of people who clearly know good pizza when they see it. It’s the kind of place where you can bring a date, your family, or just yourself and your appetite — no judgment.

Peel Wood Fired Pizza doesn’t just make pizza. They make pizza experiences. And honestly, I’m already planning my return like it’s a sequel.

Great crust
Great toppings
Great vibes
Would absolutely wood‑fire my heart again

My usual Peel visit is to the ofallon location since it’s next door. However I would gladly make a drive to the peel in Edwardsville for their menu options, the great vibes, and great service. My favorite thing to get here is the Chicken Tikka Pizza, sounds odd but even as a picky eater I gave it a chance and I’m obsessed!!! So yummy!! Went to their brunch and enjoyed everything we tried(except the seasonal potato soup which was not bad but not good either, not pictured). The pancakes were fluffy and huge(ate one there and took the other home)! I chose the pancake syrup for it over the maple syrup and it was perfect. Our espresso martini and kick start were yum! I asked for my kickstart to be sweeter and she made it perfectly. The biscuits and gravy were fluffy and the gravy just right. One thing we ordered that was surprisingly better than we expected were the breakfast potatoes. They were perfectly seasoned and crunchy, and we thought the flavor, price, and size were all really fair! Can’t wait to come back and try the mimosas and more of the menu items special to their location. One star removed because in both times I’ve come the hosts and entrance area could’ve been better. One host made us question a hygiene issue due to them looking very noticeably unwashed. Both times we came in they weren’t quick to greet (if they were even there to greet), and there’s little room between letting customers out, waiting at the stand for assistance, and other customers sitting waiting for tables. It always seems chaotic in front or unmanned, no in-between. Which honestly the ofallon one is similar in that, must be a general peel issue. I still will return and encourage all to try them.

Amazing food, great service beautiful restaurant. The spicy chicken garlic pizza to die for. The 3 meat divine. Even the buffalo chicken was amazing. Their beer, wine, and cocktail list was expansive and our waiter was so kind an offered several different options. We enjoyed a bourbon smash, I had amazing cocktail with orange liquor and my aunt and uncle enjoyed a glass of Italian wine and a lager of beer. I can’t wait to come back again, I’m ngl I talk about this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something new

My experience here is a hit and a miss somedays. Today, it was loud and the service was a bit slow. I honestly would’ve liked to sit away from where the bar was but it is fine. The music was super loud and was hard to have any conversations. Food- very delicious and I would recommend coming here for the food. I love the pizza selections. The maple bourbon wings are to die for. I always end up getting too much food and the Blackened Shrimp Linguine is great but I don’t like the hard bread it comes with.
Overall, great amazing food, service needs work, but always tip the waitresses even though they stink.

Maybe we caught the kitchen on a bad day. We were really disappointed with our pizza. It was floppy and seemed undercooked. We liked our salad but expected better from a pizza place that most of our friends rave about. Great looking establishment with a great patio. I’m willing to give it another try but maybe I will ask them to cook the pizza a little longer next time.

The potato wedges were so good the green dipping sauce was my favorite of the 3. The garlic cheese ciabatta was good as well. The pizzas are a nice size you’ll definitely have some to take home. Also the kids pasta a salad went over without a hitch. My kid ate it all and was very satisfied.

Paul was a wonderful server! My fiancé and I went for a supper and he made the experience very enjoyable with his friendly attitude. He also offered some insight as to which meal to pick. Definitely recommend! We will be back!

We always enjoy eating here! We also like sitting at the bar. Their staff here are very professional and very friendly. Their pizzas are the best around! They make their own beer and have other beer too. They have a huge patio with it’s own bar and it is winter proofed during cold weather!
