Good morning, today I had the pleasure of visiting this place. It really caught my attention, since I moved from Brooklyn to Garden City and had heard about it without ever having been there. I want to say that I thought it was excellent. The manager was very attentive; the cashiers were busy taking orders and she helped me. Her service was excellent. I tried the empanadas—wow, delicious! Elisa took my order and was very kind. The place looks old, but it was very clean. Thank you for the excellent service, and I will visit again soon. This time I might go to another one; I searched on Google and Merrick and others are close by.

Came here based on a recommendation. The chicken is juicy. Even in a classic chicken sandwich with nothing on it – literally just the chicken between the bun, it was juicy. The yuca fries is a must. The Mac and cheese is very creamy, but few bites in started to taste salty. Good thing the family meal came with 2 drinks. I tried the hibiscus drink and the peach/nectarine drink. If you like mango flavor, go with the peach/nectarine. If you like slightly tart, go with the hibiscus. The plantains taste like plantains; nothing special. The buns taste like Hawaiian rolls. It’s unfortunate the chicken only comes in thighs and legs. No breasts. You can order it grilled or fried. Opted for fried. Compared to larger chicken franchises like Popeyes or KFC, Pollo Campero does not offer mashed potatoes or gravy. They do come with Campero rice, beans, Cole slaw, and sweet potato fries, which I didn’t get. I ordered one empanada to try. It’s pancake flat, which I’m not used to eating after trying other empanada spots, but maybe it’s a cultural thing? A family meal with one empanada and just a sandwich cost around $62. Erred a little on the pricey side for me.

Wasn’t great. Did like the girl that was serving me. But my food was poorly packed. I order the salad bowl.. it’s empty. I was the only black woman in there I felt the energy. .. everybody else plate looked good except mine. I can count how many pieces of lettuce I have on my hands. Mango drink good! I won’t be coming here again.. maybe with one of my friends ♀️ $13.
update//: i followed up on the response and contacted them and nothing was fixed haha. thank you still won’t be coming.
Update 1/31. My bf ubers. Your workers are rude and racist. Assuming my bf won’t deliver the order .. your worker took a picture of the order before he could grab it. Is it only Hispanics ALLOWED/ACCEPTED? That’s how it feels in POLLO CAMPERO. I’ve gone to many Spanish restaurants and the treatment NEVER been like this. He was ignored when I came in. For 5 min. Hes working— doing Uber Eats. He needs the order so he takes it and confirms it in front of them. Can’t keep sitting there waiting for yall to do yall job. He’s on the clock too. Unfortunately your workers lack supervision and being a team. He’s then yelled at for grabbing the order and he explains to them why it and what occurred (he confirmed the order). He asked for the two drinks for the order. They were not given. They take long with that. The lack communication! If it’s not ready. Say that.
The manager needs to be checked. You don’t talk to customers like that.. walking away mumbling under your breath. Talking in another language bc you’re upset.. that doesn’t make anyone feel comfortable. Luckily I wasn’t inside. I can speak and understand Spanish. We will never ever eat here. I will tell everyone our experiences. I still have my first review and its images. That bowl was a slap to my face. The fact you have someone running your establishment like this. It won’t last. Telling my bf “next time” (while my bf is waiting w the order at a table) there won’t be… next time you should be aware of customers. Ready to help.

Chicken is flavorful but the chicken thigh was slimy all under the skin I couldn’t even really eat it and the empanadas are empty! I ordered two empanadas to go on the side of my combo. I noticed there was a lot of space when I bit it so I pushed all the filling to one side effortlessly and took a bite and the rest was literally empty. Imagine if I got the empanada combo? 3 empty empanadas and a side. Gee thanks. They should know how to fill an empanada.
