This place serves some delicious Southern style cooking meals with complimentary chili beans and ice cream. Have been here several times over the years-never disappointed. Today we had the chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes and the grilled chicken platter(Swiss cheese, mushrooms, onions) with grilled cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy. Yummy!!

My son and I ate lunch there on a Monday afternoon during lunch rush. There was quite a bit of a wait to be seated, as they were packed full. The hostess wasn’t very friendly, but the serving and kitchen staff are very friendly and welcoming, and very helpful. We sat off on the side, in the bar area, not the main dining room in front of the kitchen, and we had four different people come to our table to make sure our dining needs were exceptionally met. I had not eaten at Daniel Boone’s in about two years or more, so I ordered several different dishes to re-aquaint myself with their fare. The fried pickles were soft and mushy, and I found them to be inedible. The potato logs are simply half a baked potato cut into strips, it seems, but they were good. My son enjoyed a hamburger. I loved their one-pound hamburger steak and mashed potatoes, it’s my favorite dish of theirs. The CFS was decent. The loaded baked potato was very good as well. The fried okra was soft in the middle. The black-eyed peas were good. The free pinto beans, chili, and Blue Bell ice cream is all very delicious. The portions are appetite satisfying. I like Daniel Boone’s and will definitely return, hopefully more often than every two years.

I must say if you’re in the Tyler TX area you MUST stop in and try this home cooking style food. Me and my husband shared the chicken fried steak it comes with 2 sides we got the fried greens tomatoes and okra it was all VERY good!!
My daughter enjoyed the hotdog and fries and the rum punch is good but taste very banana. Every meal comes with FREE beans and FREE ice cream. Which are very tasty as well!!

Fries are extremely crunchy, they are really good at frying. They have special “kids eat free” and Karaoke night on Thursday. Free blue bell ice cream! Cheap and nice place.

My trip to visit Tyler, TX was marked by a stop at this fantastic local restaurant. I loved the kitschy decorations. The food was Texas sized and tasted fantastic (especially the macaroni and cheese bites).
*Definitely try the complimentary pinto beans (chili – hot) or ice cream.
It was nice to meet the owner and our waitress was awesome. The chicken fried steak and burger were larger than my son’s x-large head. The prices were very reasonable for our current economy, I felt like I got a good deal.
You could also tell the food was homemade and not frozen. I can’t give enough compliments to the chef/kitchen staff.
