Growing up on Sonny’s when I had the opportunity to visit, I jumped at it.
Had a brisket sandwich on garlic bread and beans. Brisket was as good as ever and the
Beans were excellent. I miss some things the took off the menu. Bought a couple bottles of sauce to take home, it’s delicious.

Came in on a Sunday, and as you’d expect, it was busy. I was just a solo diner, and they were able to seat me immediately. I was anticipating a church rush wait, but it was quick. I had my food within 15 mins of pulling in the parking lot. My server Ivory was attentive, kind, and on the ball. I’ll be back soon, and recommend you are too.

Been eating at Sonny’s for 40yrs but hadn’t been in 20+ since they’ve been closing down but man am I thankful they still have locations near me! Sliced pork, ribs, slaw, beans, and that Texas toast hasn’t changed in decades! Sooooooo good! Great service! Only things missing were the salad bar and Brunswick Stew!

I had the pork three ways. The Cole slaw tasted like dirt and should be chopped smaller. The tater top appetizer needed more cheese. The pork was excellent and the beans were very good. The service(Claudia) was outstanding.

I think since this place sits kind of back and away from everything else in the Walmart lot, it gets missed. But I’m glad I found it and decided to give it a try. Omg. Great barbecue. Some of the best I’ve ever had. I sat at the bar and Kayla was my waitress. What a sweetie.

Some of the absolute best barbecue that I have gotten anywhere around the Atlanta area. They really smoke everything fresh on site and the food is always fresh and taste delicious. When my favorite location in Lawrenceville burned down I started coming to this location because it was the next closest one. Even though it’s a 25-minute drive from my house it was well worth it. Highly recommended to anyone looking for some good barbecue.

I have no hope for this Sonny’s, and I can’t wait for Lawrenceville to reopen. I went tonight for an Arnold Palmer, and it took 15 minutes!! I even went in the store so I wouldn’t have to wait behind a large order… And I’m assuming it was out of spite they made me wait until the large order was gone!! The pizza I ordered for dinner was faster than JUST the drink I ordered from Sonny’s!!
Now normally I visit the Lawrenceville location where I have no complaints, but since they’re under construction I visited Buford. The wait was very long, but I assumed it’s because the peach cobbler egg rolls were made fresh. I also order a big deal Brisket grilled cheese combo. It smelled so good I took a bite when I got to the first stop sign! I found myself chewing on plastic/saran wrap, and quickly called the store back. I only wanted them to know there was plastic in the brisket so they could prevent anyone else from eating it! Honestly, I understood the mistake because I’ve spent years in the restaurant industry! Traffic was also picking up, and turning around would’ve been a hassle. In hindsight I wish I had just gone back, because that little piece of Saran Wrap ended up being several pieces of plastic in my sandwich. I find it hard to believe this wasn’t intentional or a just blatant carelessness, and I can’t see myself going back to this location. Prayerfully, they begin to pay more attention in the future, because some may not be as understanding as I am!

My wife and I have had Sonny’s on our list of places to eat for many years now. The food has always been very satisfying.
The salad bar has been replaced with tables so sadly, I think it is a thing of the past. Oh the memories.
The wife loves their dry-rubbed ribs and that’s usually what she gets. It costs a little bit extra but it’s so worth it.
I typically get the brisket or pulled pork depending on my mood..
The restaurant has a pretty good bar. At the moment they only serve beer but that’s all I usually go for. The wife would like wine but it was probably challenging enough getting a beer license from city hall.
