As authentic as it gets if you’re looking for no frills Texas bbq and all the fixings. Love the barn with its antique and old fashioned decor. It’s a counter order with great table service and a centralized checkout counter at the exit. Two stories offers plenty of space to crowd in. Excellent!

First time customer! GREAT Texas-flavored food! Attentive service. Awesome historic Texan atmosphere. We had the 3 meat plate and the chopped brisket sandwich with onion rings. Loved it! Our new go-to for BBQ!

Our family has been coming to Joe’s since it’s been here. We are grateful for the very good food and cooked properly… It’s perfect as good as it gets!
Joe’s barbecue Company is where our family goes for pretty much everything and after going there again this week… From out of town to visit family, the nostalgia is now a part of our lives not just good food.
The weight staff has been there 30 years some of them.
We’ve lost family members over the years and it truly is like coming home… Imagine that just a restaurant and here we are

First time eating here and it’s an Amazing place, food was hot and fresh. Tea was amazing and the waitress I had was real friendly and knowledgeable about how long the restaurant been open for. Brisket on my barbecue potato was seasoned well and fell apart easily. Cook is doing an amazing job. Food portions are fair for what you pay for. I’ll definitely be eating here again in the future.

I’ve been wanting to go here for a long time after hearing about it from a few coworkers for over a decade. Unfortunately, it’s way off the beaten path for me as I do not have any reason to be on this side of town. Today, I helped my son in law move his parents back into Alvin, and the timing was just right for me to take my son in law to lunch. He had great memories of eating here as a kid and appreciated the flash back Wednesday meal. Everything was almost perfect. (1) I thought the price for 1 meat plate with 2 sides was a bit high at almost $19. I wanted the 2 meat going in, so I figured instantly as I scanned the menu that it would easily go above $25, but to my surprise, it was only $1 more. You would have to be “crazy” to not just get the 2 meat plate or more. So basically, it’s just a tad under $20 for 2 meat plates. That’s more in line from what I see at most good bbq places. (2) I jokingly said that I ordered an adult drink when they handed me a 2 cup “maybe” size mason jar, even though I knew it was a free refill. This part was made better when our attendant asked what we were drinking and brought us a 1 liter carefe that could easily refill my mason jars 2 times more. This definitely made me laugh afterward after my comments. Anyways, all in all, Alvin is very lucky to have this place. I didn’t even mention the interior, which was an added bonus, but you can see my photos. A must-see. A little like the buckhorn saloon in San Antonio.

Had a lot of great moments here in Alvin, but Joe’s Barbecue was easily a highlight.
The history, the culture — you can feel it the minute you walk in. I had random patrons insisting I try the okra, and our waitress made sure I didn’t leave without the jalapeño bread everyone was raving about (and now I get why). That kind of atmosphere doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s more than just good barbecue — it’s community.
If you’ve eaten here and enjoyed it, take a second to leave a review. Places like this deserve to be celebrated.
5 stars all day !!!!!

I was excited to try Texas BBQ and was very disappointed. The Mac n cheese were okay. The ribs were very mid and the brisket and pull pork was very salty. Maybe it’s because we went later in the day and it’s been sitting out but that’s not an excuse for the amount of money we paid.
3/10

I have been here many times over the years. It’s one of the few local bbq joints around Alvin, unfortunately. Joes used to be amazing, but has steadily increased in price and dropped in quality of food. I keep trying to tell myself maybe it’s a bad day for the employees, but each time I try to go back, it’s another negative experience with a brutal impact to my wallet. I first started noticing a change when the 1 and 2 meat plates cut out a side. It used to be 3 sides, now it’s only 2. Here’s the problem with that, they took away one side dish, but increased the price of the plate claiming inflation. I tried to dismiss this and continue eating at joes, but the food continues to get worse. I can’t order chopped beef anymore because of the amount of fat and bbq sauce mixed together, so I started ordering sliced beef. That was okay until it started being cut thinner and thinner with each visit yet prices continue to increase. The Mac and cheese is no longer as good as it used to be. Unfortunately it’s a watery consistency and very plain. I have quite dining at joes and recently decided to give them a try again. Ordered a burger to go. Called in and requested that the burger have no mustard, no onions and no tomatoes. I was told by the person on the phone that it was not necessary to tell her this because they put all condiments on the side for to go orders to help prevent soggy bread. I was excited to hear this thinking maybe the old Joes was coming back! Wrong! Got my burger home and it had all condiments on the burger. Bread was extremely soggy, and I had to pick off all the condiments and wipe off the mustard which didn’t help mask the mustard taste. Another fail for Joes. Unfortunately, I won’t be supporting this business anymore due to the lack of staff communication, lack of customer service, increasing prices with declining food quality. Joes just isn’t what it used to be. I will take the time to drive to Pearland or Danbury where the bbq is consistently good and the orders are made correctly.

Drove all the way from Houston to Joe’s and after one bite of the fried fish & shrimp plate I couldn’t eat anymore.
The food was fried in old oil and is not seasoned! There’s a strong aftertaste, that won’t leave my mouth.
Disgust!
I’m no longer coming here for anything they serve. If they don’t care too much about serving fresh food, then what’s the point of patronizing this business?!
None!
Now, I’ve just spent $30 on food I cannot consume, highly disappointed and not recommended!
Waste of money! And still hungry!
Thanks for nothing Joe!

Food seems to have gotten worse. We enjoyed coming to Joes when we first moved here but this is probably our last time. All kinds of dry meats, sad because the atmosphere is great! Hopefully it gets better.
