Bound by the reality of economics, not by the reality of the Corporation, It is my pleasure to introduce to you Paynes Restaurant. There Is no compromise, nutrition and flavor will always guide us. Fellowship around a table, bottle of wine, looking into the eyes of who you love.. heaven We do it daily, pride ourselves on it and stake our reputation to it.

This is a lovely place with great food and great staff! Why are you going across the street to Cracker Barrel?
We had beef stew, bangers and mash, fish and chips, cole slaw, and tomato soup. Sticky toffee pudding, too! They were all delicious, no notes at all. We would definitely eat here again!

The food was amazing, I got the bangers and mash which had excellent sausages and homemade mash potatoes. The bread that came with the soup had a nice sourdough flavor to it that paired quite nicely with the Cock-a-Leekie soup. The atmosphere of the place gives off similar vibes to what I believe British pub would give off.

The food was amazing! I am not joking when I say this is a must stop. My husband got the fish n chips and he said it was the best he has ever had. I had the tomato soup with a grilled cheese in the bowl. Wow, it was amazing and has ruined any other tomato soup I will have in the future!

1st visit! Fish and fries good, but stars of the meal were complimentary bean dip and chips which is served cold (new to me) and raspberry potato salad (pictured half eaten). Very surprised raspberry goes well with potato salad! Shared the meal with husband. Just the right amount without being stuffed.

Next time we want to try sticky toffee pudding.

Servers very polite and helpful.

Would have given 5 stars but the restroom floor was really wet.

I really enjoyed my trip to Payne’s! I got the fish and chips and it was amazing. The fish was huge and super flaky, the fries were perfectly crispy, and even the slaw was really good. They also gave us chips with a tomato and black bean dip that was really refreshing. I thought it was a nice touch that the fish came with malt vinegar too.

The service was great, and overall it was just a really good experience. I’d definitely go back!

I have been many times with friends and family, and it is always a great experience. The food is phenomenal, and definitely unique, especially for Grant County. I’ve had a lot of things on the menu and everything tastes amazing. The service is always fantastic, and I love the aesthetic. Payne’s is my go-to restaurant when people visit from out of town, and I even brought all of my coworkers here for a work outing in Grant County (my organization is based in Allen County, so none of them are local). When people ask me what to order, I tell them literally everything on the menu is a good choice. They’re known for their fish and chips, but I also love their soups, salads, and sandwiches (the club is my favorite). Seriously, I can’t recommend Payne’s enough.

As good as reviews suggest. Very comfortable inside and quick, friendly service.

It’s British menu prices may seem high but include soup or side for $20-$30 range and are generally large servings.

Super delicious food. Fish and chips were great along with the bean dip/chips and the soup. Loved the bean dip in fact

If you love yourself get the sticky toffee pudding. Even if you don’t (you should), get the sticky toffee pudding

Neat little place with a unique menu. It was a cold rainy day so my partner and I went with soup and grilled cheese and hot tea. The Earl Grey tea was nice and hot and they had cream and honey when I asked. The creamy chili (pictured) was the soup of the day which I got with the cheddar grilled cheese, the cock-a-leekie soup was my partners choice with the Gouda grilled cheese. The soups were hot and flavorful and the grilled cheeses were on a delicious sourdough bread perfect for dipping. We also got the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was very delicious. If I lived nearby this would be a regular stop for me for sure. The server was new, didn’t know some of the menu, but overall was diligent and very nice. We asked lots of questions and she had answers. Alexis B – Good Luck and thank you!

We were a party of 4; 2 of us ordered the fish and chips, and 2 of us ordered the bangers and mash. The French fries were excellent 10/10. The beer battered fish was a little dry. The sausages were also delicious and nicely browned. We didn’t care for the mashed potatoes covered with an onion sauce. We would eat here again but order the sausages with French fries next time.
