Le nom de ce restaurant témoigne de la vaste prairie qui descendait jadis jusqu’à la Seine, depuis les abords immédiats de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Celle-ci était connue pour ces duels acharnés et très souvent épiques entre les clercs de l’Abbaye et les étudiant de l’Université qui en réclamaient la propriété. Dans les années 1920, le restaurant Le Pré aux Clercs devint alors le préféré de l’illustre écrivain Ernest Hemingway. Aujourd’hui, situé à l’angle de la rue Bonaparte et de la rue Jacob, au coeur du 6ème arrondissement de Paris, Le Pré aux Clercs vous ouvre ses portes chaleureusement. Wandering around the Saint Germain area I happened upon the cozy and welcoming Le Pre Aux Clercs. I loved the atmosphere & food so much that I returned the next night as well. The kind and professional waiter Jean remembered me & was so helpful with recommendations and even recalled which water I preferred. I highly recommend the onion soup and especially the Chocolate Mousse!

We stumbled across this little place during a stay in Paris. We did a lot of eating and drinking during our time there, but this place stood out from the crowd. We had the French Onion soup which was devine and went well with fries followed by the chocolate mousse. We also had a delicious Bloody Mary and some Kwak beer. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and cosy – thank you!

We had a truly wonderful lunch and were thoroughly impressed by both the cuisine and the atmosphere. We ordered the steak, which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was fantastic — cozy, lively, and full of charm.
Our server, William, was wonderful – friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. All the staff were nice and helpful, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

I went there with my grown-up son and an old friend… somewhat also to celebrate my son’s birthday. He who lives in Paris had for quite some time had an eye on this restaurant to visit and enjoy. He was very happy with his slowly cooked/grilled chicken a huge portion with fries. My Pré-something hamburger was importantly below expectations despite pretty attractive looks on the plate. The Médoc red wine we had was below average but okay. My old school friend was also quite satisfied with his chicken meal. My Tarte Tatin dessert was good with the necessary glass of a bit fruity/ tiny sweets white wine.
We really enjoyed a very nice evening there together…in an absolutely beautiful warm atmosphere old style design restaurant and that part deserves 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I will definitely be back to that corner by Rue Jacob ❤️

Great Christmas Day dinner in Paris. Enzo took really good care of us. Hats off to Enzo! The food was wonderful. We started with Deviled Eggs. Really nice Dijon taste to the mayonnaise. I had the Duck Confit. Really tasty, very well cooked. Francene had pan seared Sea Bass. Very tasty. Dessert, was worth saving room for during our meal. I had the salted caramel scoop and a scoop of the coffee ice cream. Francene had Cafe Gourmand. Espresso with mini servings of cream brûlée, chocolate pot o’creme, salted caramel macaron. Bit were really very good and hit the spot. Thanks again to Enzo!

Overall this was a hit meal, our crew liked the burger, chicken and sirloin. The ribeye was bad, grisly and undercooked but somehow charred?? The service was good, they came back to check on us regularly and made sure we had water after the drinks we ordered were gone. The €25 bottle of wine special was a hit.

Everything about this place is magic. We had the tartare, chicken, burger, and rib steak. Each and every single dish was 10/10! The atmosphere is so cozy, and the music playing in the background creates the absolute perfect Parisian vibe. It was the highlight of our trip. Don’t miss this gem!

I had the chicken (poulet très délicatement rōti) with a side of gratin dauphinois with the béarnaise sauce and when I tell you I was mopping up the gravy with bread and making sure I got all the meat off the bone, I’m not lying!!
I also had the crème brûlée but since I was solo dining, it was too big of a portion (delicious though!)

Our absolute favorite restaurant from our last Parisian trip. We were there for about 1 hour 45 minutes but it was an exquisite, luxurious experience. We didn’t order everything at once. We had the pâté entrée, followed by the duck in pepper sauce with pan-fried vegetables and a steak with pommes frites. Just amazing. Service was a typical French experience — not excessively warm and bubbly, but very professional and admirable.
The atmosphere is so unique and cool (everyone’s photos speak for themselves). It was a quirky experience as the tables are packed together so tightly the waiter had to physically pull the table out into the pathway so I could scooch around it and sit in the booth. Then I was re-blocked in. But, what a fun experience!
Fast forward another week in Paris, it remained the most delicious and memorable meal of our visit.
