The atmosphere is wonderful, making it a great spot for a night out. I was thoroughly impressed by their Long Island Ice Tea, which was a perfect 10/10, and the Pakora (9/10) served as an excellent starter. The Paneer Butter Masala (8/10) was rich and flavorful, especially when paired with their fresh Naan (8/10). While the meal was largely a success, the Chai was unfortunately a disappointment, scoring only a 3/10.
Overall, it is a very solid but expensive choice for North Indian cuisine. The owner made the best attempt to provide great service but servers gave conflicting information about refills and quantity, especially when it’s explicitly written on the menu.
We were greeted by Freddy who was so incredibly kind. Was sure to check on us frequently throughout the meal and was on top of the refills which I appreciate!
We ordered the bullet naan, cheese naan, vegetable samosas, chicken wings, and butter chicken (Deannas pasta style!).
The veggie samosas were pretty big! Very fresh, a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also came with three delicious chutneys, one of which was a tomato and pumpkin flavor which was incredibly unique. The wings were delicious, such a nice char and came with perfectly sauteed onions.
The bullet naan was not too spicy at all, and the cheese naan was loaded with cheese! They also come out really hot so it’s nice and melty. The butter chicken noodles were incredible! I’ve never had a dish like it, and while I know it’s not authentic Indian it was fun to switch it up. The noodles were cooked perfectly, there was still a great amount of sauce for the naan, and the chicken was plump and juicy.
For all of that food and a soft drink, our total only came out to about $85. It was so much food we didn’t even get to finish it all! Amazing price, wonderful service, and the ambience is beautiful, it’s also in such a convenient location where you can walk off all the food you just ate. Definitely come to Taj Mahal if you’re in the area….or even if you arent! Its worth the drive!
When the food arrived, it was just okay—not great, not terrible—just average. The chicken was a bit chewy, and overall the meal felt very costly for what it was.
The surprise came when I saw the bill: they charged me $4.99 for the side of onions. I told them I didn’t know it would cost extra, but they didn’t remove the charge, which was disappointing. The manager and the server, Freddy, were otherwise nice, but I wouldn’t have ordered it had I known.
Overall, the food was average, the prices were very high, and the unexpected charge left a bad impression. I don’t think I’d return unless I had no other choice.
I’m writing this review to warn others about the terrible service and mediocre food at Tajmahal Phoenix Arizona. We tried the Daal Fry and Navratan Korma, which were just okay – nothing to write home about. The flavors were bland and uninspired, and the portion sizes were small for the price.
But the real kicker was the chapati – it was as hard as armor! Like, who serves rock-hard chapatis? Not something you’d expect from an Indian restaurant.
The worst part, though, was the staff’s attitude. They seemed completely uninterested in serving us. But the cherry on top was when they were mocking and laughing at customers (we overheard them giggling in the back). Not exactly what you want to experience when you’re trying to enjoy a meal out with your family, especially when you have kids .
All in all, the food was mediocre, the chapati was inedible, and the service was atrocious. Would NOT recommend Tajmahal Phoenix Arizona until they work on their food quality AND staff training.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
We ordered the butter lamb and the curry goat as the main entries. Absolutely a delicious choice. Britney and Freddy were incredible in guiding my niece and I through the menu. We did order a few other items too. All items were to die for in such delightful taste and combination of a full course dinner meal.
We will continue to come and satisfy our Indian food cravings as we have been doing it for months now.
Thank you Britney and Freddy!!
I come from a Desi background and thought the food was excellent.
The service was just as impressive. Gill was amazing! They were friendly, attentive, and happy to make recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a great spot for both a casual dinner and a special night out.
If you’re looking for delicious, high-quality Indian food with amazing service, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back!
