Good: Like the decor, which is interesting to look at while you wait. Staff are reasonably polite. Blackeyed peas are good, with a hint of spice. Mac and cheese is OK. You can tell there is at least partly real cheese involved. Fried chicken is OK. Crab cakes are mediocre, could be crisper and need more seasoning, such as Old Bay.
Bad: The greens are awful. I made an audible noise upon first taste because they are rather sweet, and this was an unpleasant surprise. I liked that the baked beans were “chunky”, with pieces of onion, tomato, pepper, and ground meat, but again, WAY too much sugar. Don’t buy the expensive bottled drinks and thank yourself later. Overall, the high prices don’t reflect the inconsistent quality of the food. I’d ultimately rather pay less for food like this, or pay a similar amount for much better food. Likely won’t be back.

Placed a order for my sister who lives in Bowie, Md., as she is bedridden and unable to cook for herself. I live in Greenville, NC. Had food delivered by Door Dash and when I saw what she received, I was appalled. I was charged $32 for one chicken leg, a scoop of sweet potatoes and a scoop of greens. This is unacceptable! So hurt and upset!

5/5 stars all around the board! From Pittsburgh, PA but in DC/Maryland often. I’ve been to the other locations, but this was my first time at THIS location. Service and food was great! LOVED LOVED the gospel music playing while I ate my food (heard it from the parking lot). Making this my NEW fav location.

Soul food. You seat yourself. About 12 of us, small sections. Warm welcome once in line. Its a buffet server style. You order what you want in a line and get to see the food. Order BBQ, mac and greens. Didn’t care too much for the mac and cheese. Catfish was a 20 minute wait so My husband ordered whiting, black eyed peas and yams. Not complaining from him. The honey butter cornbread and desserts stole the show. Cost about $20 person people. No waiters and no trash cans.

This place should be CLOSED ASAP!! The food is not good no matter what you order off the menu .I was appalled with the taste of the yams and greens, the chicken has no flavor. I was charged $4.25 for four corn muffins totally unacceptable. If they gave me free food I would decline it without hesitation. The mac &cheese was not good I’m not sure if it was cheese. I don’t understand why!! And I am happy that there’s other people will speak up.

Just has the most delicious lunch. Had the salmon, and it was perfectly cooked. The portions are generous and food is servef warm. The new location and interior is soo welcoming, and filled with warmth. The music is a nice touch.
BTW they have a large vegetarian and vegan menu. That was really special to see how much in selection they offered.

I’ve going to this location since its grand opening. In the past food was great and so was the service. On December 2,2016 at 5:49pm the serving staff was rude and short with us. The young lady taking our orders was rolling her eyes and the employee and us. The young man apologized. The young woman at the register was extremely rude. She behaved as though we were bothering her. I ordered the pork chop dinner it was dry and gravy seemed old. My side were room temperature at best. My partners meal was inedible to say the least. His meatloaf was completely burnt. After treatment of the staff he didn’t want complain. Also there was an employee some sleeping in the dining area for the entire duration of our visit. I’m disappointed because my son’s stay in the NICU I frequently ate at this location and never been treated in such a way. DO BETTER!!!!!

WOW! The staff was super friendly, the decorations were really cool, and the food was so incredible!
The place was steadily busy and at the same time everyone made you feel like you were the only one there ordering. I did not feel rushed.
I would definitely go here again, next time I’m in town!

It’s southern cooking at a fast food output. As someone who lives less than 30 miles from the North Carolina border, and have made frequent trips to the state, I have a solid idea of Carolina cuisine. The staff are extremely friendly and expedient. The fish sandwhich is serve HOT and delicious. My only criticism is the quality of the food suffers to meet the high demand. The seasoning was lacking in the fried chicken. I give HUGE kudos to the manager because her hospitality was very much North Carolina all the way in Maryland. It would definitely serve better for the prices to be a bit better. At an average of $20/plate the quality should continously be restaurant equivalent. Great food for those north of the Mason-Dixon. Equal to a takeout spot south of Richmond.

Not only have they raised their prices, the food tastes like leftovers from the hospital across the street. They have the nerve to charge an extra $7 for white rice. It’s not even anything special about the rice.. no salt, butter nothing! Their food is way under seasoned just an overall disappointment.
