Casual seafood spot & lounge annexed to a retail fish market with a live lobster tank.

Fish Bites Seafood in Wilmington is a must-stop if you love fresh, flavorful seafood. Everything tastes cooked to order, the portions are generous, and the seasoning is spot on. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the laid-back coastal vibe makes it even better. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is absolutely worth it.

Absolutely delicious lunch. Asian Ahi Tuna Burger special was delicious. Never lose going with a Fish Bites special! Also the Scallops were cooked perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious. The Fried Shrimp were also wonderful. They make their own tartar sauce and it is the best! Fish Bites remains consistently good and the service was delightful.

Wow! The food and service were TOP NOTCH here! Laid back, casual dining room experience with the freshest of seafood were just what we were looking for. DO NOT LET THE LOCATION DETER YOU! The warmest atmosphere, the owner came out several times to check on us, learn about us and was very engaging! Our waitress, Julianna was oh so sweet and very attentive. Our food was so delicious. We were in town for a family funeral from TN, but needed our fresh seafood fix (originally from St. Augustine, FL) and this fit the bill. The only place with a fresh lobster tank – hubby got a 2.5lb lobster, I opted for the mussels appetizer which was huge! Followed by the Fish Bites Feast for 1. Clams, mussels, oysters (never was a fan til my trip here), shrimp, corn, sausage, potatoes. It was SO good, only thing left on my plate was the corn, lol. They bring a large pail to throw your shells out. Finished it up with a gigantic slice of pumpkin cake! This is a MUST GO place when in Wilmington, NC.

Ella was our server and she was an 11 bubbly and funny ..the other young ladies were also great staff. We were at one of the front tables and they all made our evening enjoyable. We ordered the three item platter and it was a great portion of food but unfortunately the kitchen cook went overboard with the old bay! One of the other servers offered to rectify the issue but we were starving. We will come back the next time we are down we may just say easy on the old bay. The coconut cream cake was awesome.

Blackened grouper melted in your mouth. Stuffed shrimp was tasty. Chocolate cake was delicious. All the cakes looked good. Fresh seafood, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere. Exactly what we were looking for on a late Sunday afternoon. Look forward to trying more food and drinks there.

We loved the atmosphere and the food was the best one that we’ve tried at Carolina beach! If we didn’t receive this recommendation we would have never found it! The service was great as well! Unfortunately we tried it our last night in town otherwise we wouldn’t have wasted our money in other places!
The fisherman stew was amazing

This is hands-down the best seafood restaurant I’ve ever been to. Every visit has been flawless—there’s truly nothing negative I could say. The service is consistently friendly, prompt, and spot-on, with a staff that adapts effortlessly to each guest’s needs. Whether you’re in a rush, looking to savor every moment, or just grabbing carryout, they’ve got you covered.
The teamwork here is unmatched. From the kitchen crew to the servers, bartenders, hosts, and management, everyone works seamlessly together, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie you can feel. Add to that the loyal crowd of regulars who pack the place, and you know this spot is something special.
If you’re local, you already know. If you’re visiting, make sure this is at the top of your list every time you’re in town. It’s a must-visit!
Some of the recent specials I’ve had. Also, do not leave without getting a piece of the best cake you’ll ever have.

Excellent choice tonight!!! Some of the very best seafood we’ve had along the Outerbanks coastline. The outside of the building is deceiving from the quality food inside.
My family had flounder and shrimp baskets and a baked fish with scallops & garlic Parmesan crust.
Food presentation is +++
The cost for the quality and amount is great.
The indoor space is somewhat small & larger groups would have a difficult time to fit inside. You would want your call ahead for seating in larger groups.
Outdoor seating area available
Parking & easy access inside.
Restrooms were very clean as well as tables, menus & floors.
Desserts are from a local bakery & wonderful. They are $9 for 1 LARGE slice of cake that is perfect to share.
This is a hidden jewel!!!

Shame on me for living here for years and only now discovering this place. Red Lobster this ain’t, so don’t come around thinking you’re going to get a chain restaurant experience. What you *will* get is the freshest, most expertly prepared seafood you’ve ever had. The mussels here, in my experience, were only surpassed by one other restaurant I’ve visited on the east coast (Virginia—see earlier review). Peerless peel-and-eat shrimp. Best I’ve ever had, even here along the coast where most of it is local. And the fish and chips from the “small” plate menu is the most authentic and delicious preparation this side of the Atlantic. Next time I’ll try the oysters, other shellfish, and *local* tuna and swordfish. I do not expect to be disappointed. It’s a small place, so you may have to wait, but it’s worth it. I’m going back, and I’ll update this review.
