Relaxed family restaurant where ribs, chicken & loin roasts are seared in a wood-fired rotisserie.

We had plans to go to another restaurant, but with arrived only to find it was closed. So we went to the Smokin’ Oak, and we’re glad we did.
We started the night with deep fried cheese curds, which were ok, but definitely frozen and not homemade. A little disappointed as at $10.00, they should be fresh made.
I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was very good. A little au jus would have been perfect, but it was still a good sandwich.
My partner had the pulled pork rice bowl, and it was very tasty. I would be hard pressed not to order it on our next visit.
Another guest had the 1/2 rack of ribs, which were really nicely sized and very good. Ribs should not be falling off the bone, and these were not, yet the meat was very tender and came off easily. It was nicely seasoned as well.
Our last guest had a burger with cheese curds, and said it was a very good burger. The size of the burger was impressive.
Side accompaniments were generous and delicious as well. Extra points for offering sweet potato fries.
Service was fast and efficient. It was the night of a pretty good snow, so rating the atmosphere is a bit difficult. Have seen it busier on other weekends.
The prices were quite reasonable.

Tasty way to add to our wonderful day y’all!
Place was filled with quiet… must have been eating people.
Food arrives fast and hot!
Hubby had the triple meat platter and I opted for the open-face chicken sandwich. Asked for Texas toast on the side vs all on top… stayed crunchy. Yummmmmm

My husband and I had a spur-of-the-moment date night and stumbled upon The Smokin’ Oak when we googled restaurants in Red Wing and we are so glad we did!
As soon as you enter the building, you are greeted with amazing smells, a fire-pit where the food is being roasted, upbeat music, and really friendly staff. We each ordered a half rotisserie chicken dinner with different sides and it was all incredible! The asparagus was some of the best we’ve ever had.
My husband had a chance to meet the owners, Kyle and Jolene, and they are such lovely down-to-earth people. It is so evident that they take great pride in their establishment and their entire team. We will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area!
Other pros: clean bathrooms, good and friendly service, lively atmosphere

This place was excellent! The food was flavorful and tasty. The minute you enter the aroma of grilled beef hits you instantly. The sliced brisket sandwich is what I highly recommend! One of my co-workers had the chicken fettuccine pasta and was delighted by it.

I really wanted to like this place but I am giving it a hard pass on visiting ever again. The brisket dinner was like dry pot roast. Not sliced brisket… just chunks of meat. The ribs were underwhelming and cold. The “rotisserie” wings were just deep fried wings… but these were hot and yet had many cold spots. The hamburger was served overcooked and dry. 3 people, $115, not a strong value for poorly executed food menu. I gave 2 stars because the bathrooms were clean and the overall facilities were decent.

First time visiting. Great chicken. My husband loved the sweet potato fries. Said they were the best he’d ever had. I am gluten-free. Server was knowledgeable, but some indicators on the menu would be great. Also, gluten-free bread options would be great for the sandwich portion of the menu. Staff was top notch.

with 2 sides. I decided on just a double serving of the Garlic & Herb mashed potatoes. My fiancé got the Half a chicken meal with the Garlic & Herb mashed potatoes, as well as the potato salad. My family was also along and we all got similar plates. The only thing I can say as well as not really complain about is my 1/4th Rack of Ribs was cold. I farm so most of my meals are cold by the time I get them from my mom or grandmother. All I cared about was the flavor and if it was moist or over cooked. It was cooked to perfection and even while cold it was still juicy and delicious. The chicken was hot and delicious, very filling and the flavor was perfect. One more thing and something I always find for some reason all the time nowadays. The soda wasn’t good. A very small thing that doesn’t reflect the business or its standing. It could have been as simple as a pinched line or an off balance carbonated water to syrup ratio. But seriously, this place was amazing. Don’t listen to me complaining; I was on a boat all day. Go check this place out; it’s amazing…!!!

Food was good, except my fries could have been hotter.
We had reservations, and got seated at our tables a little after that reservations time. We had a large group. They split us up, which wasn’t a problem except we were all tables away from each other. It worked out okay as it was late and we didn’t want to have to wait any longer.
I would go there again. The food was very good and waitress worked very hard. Management was right there working hard as well.

I have always been a fan of this place but, today I was very disappointed! The ribs were as hard as a rock and very dry. I had to chisel the meat away from the bone. The brisket was very salty and could not eat much of it. The dark meat chicken was very good and moist. Also the baked beans were very good but didn’t care for the potato salad. There were three of us dining today and all were disappointed in our plates. I will not eat there again. High dollar meals for the food they are serving. Tom Lorimor
