First time visiting this diner and it didn’t disappoint. It feels you something about a restaurant when there is a waiting list for breakfast. The biscuits and gravy skillet I had was amazing. Very tasty and so much food I couldn’t finish. Breakfast for my wife and I with drinks was $30. Great place. Friendly service. We will definitely be back.

Honestly one of the best breakfast/diner spots I’ve been to. Close to my work area so I visit often now. Very warm and comforting vibes like a true old school diner. Food is top-tier, all made fresh and generous portions. Skillets are my favorite but definitely will explore other items on the menu. 10/10 recommend for breakfast or lunch.

Drove to Elgin to look at a few cars. Didn’t end up making a deal with the dealers but had a perfect meal at a great Diner.

Rays Dinner is our go to spot for Breakfast and coffee. The closeness cozy, family like. we enjoy myself always, the atmosphere is wonderful. Great server today Mis Beta, Awesome as always, she’s a sweetie, very pleasant. If you haven’t tried rays come out and join us, love to have you!

Great independent diner. My eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. Had to wait a little bit to be seated but that is OK – just a testament to how beloved this place is to the community. Every table was taken! Highly recommended.

I usually have only good things to say about Rays. The food is fantastic. And the service is usually very good. But every time I get the waitress I got today. I feel like shes trying to rush me through my order, and talking over me. Today was no different. I don’t know the ladies name. But shes older. Tried to ask if we could substitute tortillas instead of french toast. Which we’ve done for the mini grand slam before And was told no for one dish. But ok for a different meal? That makes no sense
So we changed our order. Looking back. This ended up making us order something similar but not exactly what we wanted. And we paid more for it. This review is not to reflect poorly on Rays, or the rest of the staff. Just this lady.

I actually lowered my expectations when I decided to visit this place.
To my surprise, it was some of the best food and service that I had in a very long time.
The owner is a hands on easy going super friendly and approachable human being.
The wait staff is phenomenal, they are on top of everything.
They treat and greet everyone as if they were long time regular customers.
We had the chicken rice cream soup, patty melt, the corn beef hash skillet and I was blown away by the taste and quality of the food.
I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other tasty items on their menu.
