I used to love the Nashville Hot. Now what am I supposed to do since I’ve tasted Handsome Biscuit’s rendition? If you’re expecting the Louisiana style hot sauce that gets most of its heat from vinegar, this didn’t quite hit like that. It’s more of a red chile sauce, like what you’d get on an excellent enchilada, except on a perfectly crispy yet tender fried chicken breast. On a big fat tasty biscuit. I’m ruined, cause I don’t live in Norfolk.

Very disappointed with this biscuit. First time I ordered from here, the biscuit was soft, fluffy, and fresh but this biscuit tasted very old and the cheese looked old as well. They were also very stingy with the bacon. I think they gave me an old sandwich.

I used to come here all the time…to the point when I walked in I didn’t even have to say what I wanted the guy would always say I gotchu…. Went in today to new faces and a new biscuit because what I used to order was the hella it was sweet potato back in the day today there was nothing sweet potato about it the biscuit was white… I asked for gravy over my biscuit and on the side I paid extra got my biscuit didn’t look the same didn’t taste the same the chicken was so small it was hidden in the biscuit …before the chicken used to hang out the biscuit …. And I asked for gravy all on my biscuit it was a dab on the inside …. So sad n upset I wasted my time my gas and my money here yes I got my refund… Because bring the old crew back and bring the sweet potato biscuit back because that was not it at all and the biscuit tasted old like they used yesterdays biscuits ewww smh never again sad what once was a great place to go is now forever out the question…sad

First visit and we will definitely be returning! Upon entering, we were asked if it was our first visit. When we said yes, the employee took the time to thoroughly go over the menu with us. She was very friendly and helpful!
We ordered the Nashville hot chicken biscuit and made it combos with tots and a drink. They have a good biscuit selection including an option to build your own. There are also sandwiches, wraps, desserts and a great selection of drinks.
The biscuit was huge and delicious! Just the right amount of spice and sauce. The tots were hot and crispy. I recommend dipping them in the Comeback Sauce. The lemonade and sweet tea were delicious also!
Carry out, delivery and patio seating are the dining options. We sat at the tables outside and while it was fine, please be aware you will have birds sitting on the table right next to you. These birds have no fear. They obviously know how good these biscuits are too! Seriously though, if you are afraid of birds, the patio is probably not for you!

Truly awesome food, a must-visit Norfolk gem. Biscuits are perfect, savory and delicious. Chicken classic is fantastic, Comeback sauce is similar to Chick-fil-A sauce. Nuggets and shorty with bacon great as well. Dolly Madison is a must-try dessert, plenty of cream cheese frosting and mixed berry jam to satisfy your sweet tooth! Reasonably priced, fast and friendly service.
Update 09/2024: Chicken breakfast wrap and shorty excellent as well, although they forgot to put the bacon we paid for on our shorty 🙁

Everyone said this was the place, all the food websites, the reviews, and friends….so obviously I checked it out and it did not disappoint. Opted for a standard bacon egg and cheese biscuit not then made an audible and got it on a sweet potato biscuit. Delicious. Staff is super friendly, prices are good and a bonus of getting to feed the birds all my crumbs on the patio was a nice way to kick off my day. Thank you for the meal!

My first time coming to Norfolk, VA I wanted to try Handsome Biscuit because I was told that the sweet potatoe biscuit is a must try when in the area, but I didn’t get a chance because they close early at 2pm…..Well I’m back in the Norfolk area again this week and I finally got my chance to try…..and well…..Unfortunately, I am a little disappointed
I want to start by saying that the biscuit sandwiches are completely customizable with many options to choose from. You do not have to stick with the traditional sandwich. You can add more of something you like, take away an item, or mix it up. I really enjoyed this feature as I walked to the counter and made my selections from one of the kiosks.
The Biscuit Sandwiches:
[ ] Hella Fitzgerald – This is fried chicken with bacon, cheddar cheese, and sausage gravy. I also selected the sweet potatoe biscuit….Here we go….To start, unfortunately, the chicken did not taste fresh. It appeared to be precooked and warmed when ordered. I know freshly fried chicken, and this wasn’t it. The chicken skin lacked a crunch and was soggy. It was tepid and lukewarm to the touch. The bacon was good, though, as well as the sauce gravy. The biscuit lacked the distinctive sweet potatoe flavor I was hoping for, but I could taste a hint of it. The biscuit itself also seemed to be precooked and warmed later. It wasn’t fluffy or flaky. To be honest, I’m not sure what this was or what to call it, but this was not it for me.
[ ] The Dirty South – This was a fried chicken, pickles, pimento cheese, and hot sauce. This all sounded good and looked good, but it was a true tragedy. Again, the chicken and biscuit didn’t seem to be freshly cooked to me. I don’t recall the smell of grease cooking or bread baking when I walked into the restaurant, and it was slightly warm. I would be curious to know when these items were actually prepared.
To wrap up, unfortunately, I’m giving Handsome Biscuit the lowest rating I’ve ever given. I had high hopes and anticipation for this place, and it let me down. Please do not let this review discourage you from trying this restaurant. It wasn’t for me, but you may have a better experience. If so, please let me know.
