Always need to stop and have a bite to eat when visiting Illinois and our last three visits. we always go with our daughter, son in law and grandchildren for dinner. It never disappoints. Our server was very pleasant and related to all our grandchildren (6). She kept refills coming, was fast with anything our large party wanted and made our dining experience great! We did have a small wait for our large party if 10, but that’s normal with a large party.

Over $100 Uber Eats dinner and food is way below standards. No popcorn or bread provided. Lettuce in the salad was turning. Must be bagged lettuce. Ribeye steak was over cooked after I asked for medium well. Cheesecake with “strawberries” is just strawberry jam. Clearly no standards or staff that cares.

New years eve was our first visit after moving into the area. The restaurant did not disappoint. From the great service to the full menu, the food we ordered was cooked to perfection. The drinks were superb.
The wait for a table at 6pm for party of 3 was only 15 min. Our server was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was delightful, along with live music and a warm fire.
Needless to say we will be returning again.

I always forget how cool this place is on the inside. You feel like you are in an old castle. The stained glass light fixtures are gorgeous and there is stained glass throughout. It’s just a cool place. They have live music, great summer specials and $9 Mai tai’s. Does life get any better than that?
We had the calamari which was delish. My Mom got the $25 steak and shrimp combo and French onion soup. Lots of food and it was great. She’s a light eater so has leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I had a burger with home made chips and a Mai tai. Everything was great.
Service was on point our waiter was attentive and quick to take our order. He checked on us several times even though the restaurant was getting busy.
Def need to come here more often

We’ve traveled all over the country trying different places and this being only a hour from home is unbelievable we haven’t tried The Village Squire before today! The portions are huge the quality of food is superb the service is top notch. We tried a smorgasbord of food and expecting to criticize something yet not one thing disappointed! The steak let’s just focus on that because I’m a huge steak connoisseur and had the $150 tomahawks and this was the best steak well next to my own I have ever had. When you order medium rare that’s exactly what you get . The seasoning is PERFECT. The grill marks are there and not over charred . Prices were right on par. Andrew well the guy is probably 6’7″ and definitely the chillest soft spoken waiter We’ve had even with all of our requests and questions. 10 out of 10 on all levels .

This was our first time visiting this location. The restaurant looks pretty cool from the outside and inside. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server K9stas was nice and provided good service, although we had to ask if we could have bread since he did bring us any. The hostess brought us pop corn and crayons for my kids. We’ve got the Greek chicken soup and a 10oz steak. The portion was ok, and the flavors were good. I wished our server would have offered some of the specials since I did not see them in the menu until the end…

Without a doubt, this is a cozy place. The waiter was excellent, I love their French onion soup, and we always order the saganaki—it’s delicious.
Today I wanted to try something different and was really craving a BLT.
Unfortunately, what arrived was an LT with a single strip of bacon on a trial run.
The bacon was there in spirit, not in quantity.
Nice bread, fresh lettuce, decent tomato… but the main character barely showed up.
Bottom line:
If you’re going to call it a BLT, commit to the bacon.

11/2021: Haven’t been here since the 80s. It was still fabulous. Forgot about the popcorn. What a wonderful walk down memory lane. My adult children loved it. 10/2022: Came back again while visiting family. It was still wonderful. The food was great. The waitress was charming and efficient. We live this place.
