It was our first time here for a date night, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. Our server was Tony and he was great! He went above and beyond to make us comfortable, explained everything to us as we asked and i told him i was allergic to shellfish and he made sure to tell the kitchen and proceeded to explain the menu on what i could and couldnt eat. He recommended several things on the menu that turned out amazing, he was very funny and friendly, very attentive and we never felt rushed or pressured. We had an amazing time and we will definitely be coming back for another date night. Highly recommend anyone to try Ambra!

What an excellent restaurant to go on that Special night, or just any evening! Our first visit there on my Wife’s Birthday! Food, service, ambiance was all truly amazing! I had the sea bass which I highly recommend. Our group also had the wagyu steak and short rib ravioloni! The best!! Finished it off with the toffee buttercup! I couldn’t believe how good it was! Worth the money if you want exquisite dining!

The place has a very nice atmosphere, almost luxurious. The food is good and presented in a very gourmet style. The wine selection is decent, and there’s a variety of cocktails. The music is at a good volume. The prices are high. The waiter’s service was extraordinary and saved the day in many ways.

Delicious and excellent service! We had an amazing dinner. The pulpo was tender and well seasoned. The mollejas were some of the best I have ever had. Also the green goddess salad and the desserts. I can’t say enough about this place – beautiful ambiance as well. Romantic or for a night with friends.

Ambra exceeded expectations across the board. Service was impeccable, and I have to give specific credit to our waiter Axa, who was completely on point the entire evening. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and our drinks never hit bottom. His recommendations were spot-on.
We started with the tuna tartare, crispy rice with salmon, and the wood fired oysters. The oysters had that classic Rockefeller preparation with a smoky char and grilled lemon that elevated them beyond the usual. The crispy rice with its teriyaki glaze and ikura was also a standout.
For mains: my son had the salmone over grana padano creamy orzo, rich without being heavy. My wife went with the New York strip, beautifully executed. I ordered the wagyu skirt steak with Kona coffee rub and aji mashed potatoes, and that coffee crust on the wagyu was phenomenal. We added burnt Brussels sprouts and grilled asparagus for the table.
Dessert sealed it. The blueberry basque cheesecake was creamy with just enough tang from the goat cheese, and the toffee butter cake with that bourbon butterscotch was the perfect finish.
Everything was outstanding. Will absolutely be back.

Absolute perfection from beginning to end. Our server Berto turned a dinner out into an evening experience. I’ve eaten at several upscale restaurants and never expected to find one of the best in McAllen Texas. Be sure to save room for the amazing desserts!

I am so glad a high end steakhouse, that’s truly worth it, has come to McAllen. I’ve been to some wonderful steakhouse all over the US. I’ve been to the few upscale steakhouse here in the RGV but was not impressed. Bobs Chophouse was the best when it was here but Ambra is the one now. The atmosphere is what you expect. A top shelf bar fully equipped to make your cocktail of choice. Friendly and courteous staff always. They have a private dinning area for any special events with a minimum purchasing requirement. Wanting to impress your date? Looking for a nice place for your next office party or meeting? Maybe you just want to pull up to the bar and sip on a good scotch and just people watch and strike up good conversation with a stranger? Ambra is your place.

I reserved a table for 2 but the table was way to small. I ordered an appetizer which took up almost half the table. I ordered the wet aged tomahawk which was cooked to perfection but brought out in a sizzling iron pan like the “fajita places”. I was warned “be careful its too hot”. The grade of the steak was questionable. There was a host just staring at me and watching me eat which kind of killed the mood also. Overall good for “valley” standars but they really need to work on small details like that. Definitely try the octopus!

I was so excited to try this place and see what the hype was all about. Our waiter Sergio was wonderful and provided recommendations to try. I got the cucumber cooler and Peary me up were great flavor fruity drinks. I also got to try the lobster Mac and cheese and it was delicious. I do wish it was creamier and just a tad flavorful but the lobster on it was phenomenal. I also got the skirt wagyu and it was bursting with flavor and was delicious. Lastly I got to try the bone marrow to try something different and it was like a tangy barbecue teriyaki flavor and was delicious. Definitely a try for something different. Overall vibes and food and especially drinks were amazing. I would definitely come back again
