I came in with my parents and brother for my parents’ anniversary last week. We came during lunch on a Tuesday, so it was not so busy. There was a great selection of South Indian foods. Pictured is the Thayir (Curd) Vada, Mango Lassi, Chana Batura, and Gulab Jamun. The food came out quickly and they catered to our requests with no judgment. (Asked for extra onion and tomato with the chana). Thank you!

We came here 2 years ago and it was really good but good quality has def gone down. Poori masala and dosa was the best. The thaali was good, but some items were lacking in flavor and some salt as well. Overall service was amazing, gracious and polite hosts. Still highly recommend.

Saravana Bhavan has always been my go-to restaurant. I always visit the Edison location. I had a not so great experience at Princeton Saravana Bhavan few months back.
I was willing to give This Saravana Bhavan another chance.
It was advertised as a location under new management. The staff were cordial, service was great.

The foods that you can never-go-wrong (Idly, Dosa, Poori and vada) are good. These can be prepared at home too and have a comparable taste.
However ordered Kothu Parota and Kaima Idly, both were prepared like a pasta in a sauce. Really!!
I believe this location is under new management and still employees the same cheff with very basic skills. Felt really bad to have come to this location with family. While the same dishes are made to perfection at Edison Saravana Bhavan.

The taste of Sambar is also not good. Please get your basics right!! Will certainly not recommend this location for any dishes other than Idly and Dosa!!

Tried their bonda, vada, puri, rava masala dosa, and Gobi 65. Everything was really tasty! If you’re craving Indian breakfast or tiffins, this place is worth trying. Feels like home food.

Always happy to visit a Sarvana Bhavan! We ordered Mysore masala dosa, south Indian Thali, a plate of idlis and a plate of mini idlis. All were fantastic!
We also enjoyed the masala chai and the kids loved mango lassi.

We tried Sadya at Sarvana Bhavan and loved it.

Finding a table is easy around 12 PM. There’s ample parking.

The place maintains hygiene standards. Tables and cutlery – spotless.

Orders are served super quick.

Tastes as good as their restaurants in India.

Menu is rich and great for regular visits.

What deserves a special mention?
Sadya served was great – very close to what we have in India.

What could be better?
Nothing, they are doing a great job. Just keep the place as clean as you have today. Maybe start providing a clean handwash option, visiting washroom before eating is not everyone’s favorite.

The amount of coconut chutney and sambar they deliver with the food is ridiculous. They should at least provide an option to order extra chutney or allow customers to add comments to the order. I ordered one combo and one rava dosa — the least they could do is include two portions of chutney and two of sambar to accompany the dishes.

Nice food and quick service. Ample seating. Employees are so busy that they often forget some kindness and softness in treating customers correctly. But nevertheless food is consistently good and that’ll bring me back here.

We have been here before the new management and the food was terrible. Really bad. Now that there is new management there. There has been many improvements.

We ordered the punugulu. This was okay. I was expecting them to be smaller in size. They weren’t as light and fluffy as I expected. They were a bit dense and heavy.

Also ordered an onion tomato chilli uttapam. This was good. Nice and crispy and fully.

Mysore dosa was okay. The red chutney in the inside lacked flavour. It was just one dimensional and spicy. There was no balance in flavour. And I guess they don’t add any garlic to the red chutney? Because that would help in flavour.

Idli was good. I am a fan of the soft fluffy melt in the mouth kind of idli (mallige idli). But my husband loves the typical Idli the Idli that has a little rava texture. So he loved it.

The service was good.
Ambience was good.

Lastly we got a rose milk for take out. This was weird. The milk was slimy like it was old or gone bad? We had already left so didn’t go back to show them.

I would go here again as I want to try the rice items. The thali seems to be a popular option and also the poori and chole bhatura.

Special mention to the Sambar. This was excellent. Very flavourful and spicy and tangy and the addition of little jaggery to balance all the flavours. It was delicious.

The chutneys were good for the most part. The coconut chutney was the best out of the 3. The tomato one was not the best.

We tried the Onion Chili Uttapam, Rava Dosa, and Mysore Masala Dosa — everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! Generous portion sizes, quick and friendly service. The Masala Chaas (buttermilk) was the perfect refreshing touch, especially in the 93° heat. Definitely worth a visit!
