Great Mexican spot! I’ve ordered their Chorizo con Huevo torta several times for takeout but this was my first time dining in. This time I ordered a burrito which came packed with protein and thought sauced up. Not to mention you don’t need to pay extra for sour cream & guac. Pretty damn good!

I also enjoyed their michelada which was good. Can’t complain—it satisfied the craving but wasn’t anything special.

Overall, this is a great Mexican spot with a great quality-price ratio. Although I recommend against ordering the burrito for takeout as it is pretty messy (but also full of flavor)

What great Mexican! Me and my family, when we visit DC, we always try and stop in here and get some great Mexican. On my most recent trip, I got tacos, 1 steak, 1 langua, and 1 pork. They were phenomenal! My twin got the Fajitas El Sol and love it. Brother got 4 tacos. Loved it. My mom got a hurache with shrimp and my dad also got tacos and both loved their entrees! Everything about this place is great. HIGHLY recommend while in DC!

I’m really picky when it comes to Mexican food in D.C since I’ve yet to find a decent place but El Sol caught me off guard. I ordered the Quesadilla Al Pastor and it exceeded my expectations for this place. It was so tasty and I almost ordered another one. For the price, this place is definitely worth it. The horchata was okay but for the amount you get, it’s worth buying. The molcajete I highly recommend if coming here.

Visiting from out of town and found this unbelievable gem!

I asked the waiter if I could practice my spanish and he kindly obliged. He spoke in Spanish, and easily in English if I did not understand. So kind and helpful.

The service was quick, perfectly attentive, and in no way overbearing. 5 stars for sure on service.

My kids loved the Mango and Strawberry aqua frescas, and my spicy mango margarita was top tier. I love spicy margs and this was very near the top.

The food was downright delicious. My son ordered the beef enchiladas, daughter with flautas, and myself with the carne asada and al pastor tacos. We shared it all and loved it all. For a Mexican restaurant in DC, I could not have been happier.

The orange salsa that came with the chips was non-traditional, but also outstanding. Went great on my tacos. I’m very curious about the base and recipe now.

I can honestly say I have no tips or things to dislike. Keep up the great work! We will definitely return whenever we are back in DC.

Solid Mexican food. We had tacos and enchiladas—both were well-seasoned and tasty.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
It can get busy in the evening, so be prepared for a short wait.
We’re already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu!

If the 20% gratuity hadn’t been mandatory, I would’ve gladly tipped 22% and left a five-star review! We ordered a few Sopes appetizers, including one with tongue—though surprisingly, I didn’t enjoy it even though I usually love tongue. The Solis Molcajete was excellent and definitely more than enough for two!

We walked past the restaurant on the way back to the hotel one night and it was full! A great sign that it must be pretty good.

Few days later looking for somewhere for dinner and remembered El Sol. Have to say it was the best Mexican we’ve had since being in the States.

Staff were so friendly and helpful. I wanted to try authentic and not “tourist” food and they were amazing in making suggestions. Which by the way were amazing!

Highly recommend the restaurant, it’s obviously a local hangout too.

What an outstanding little restaurant. I grew up with Baja style Mexican food in California, and this was as good as the best places I can remember. The salmon taco was amazing and the combo fajita outstanding. I will return to this place when I am in DC next year! Seating is tight, it is popular, but it was worth it.
