This place has been around for a loooong time. That doesn’t happen unless you have a quality product and good customer service.
H&H has both. Limited menu but great quality from what’s offered.
I would definitely recommend trying them out for breakfast or lunch. They have amazing fried chicken and still offer other great favorites like the meat loaf and chicken and dumplings. If you’re in the mood for a good southern meal or just want to stop in for the nostalgia, don’t hesitate.

My motorcycle group rode to Macon to fellowship over breakfast and this restaurant was recommended to us by a local rider. So glad to went here as the food was fantastic and the service was exemplary! The restaurant is on the smaller side and there was an initial wait of about 20 mins, but the locals come here for a reason as the food experience is definitely top notch and worth the short wait! We’ll definitely be back here again!

Another great meal at H&H. I love the atmosphere. It’s just a fun place. When you go first, order the Soul Rolls kick back and sing a little “Blue Sky” and think about the greats who ate there. Complimenting the walls all kinds of Allman Brothers memorabilia. I love their Fried Chicken, you can’t go wrong with their veggie plate. They serve breakfast early in the morning and you will find lots of locals eating the goods. Near Macon don’t miss out on this historic spot.

I found this place okay—solidly average. To be fair, it might’ve been what I ordered. The place was moderately busy, and almost every table around me had fried chicken. In hindsight, maybe that was the move. The table next to me ordered the fried fish, and not only did it look delicious, I heard them confirm it absolutely was delicious. So there’s that.

I went with the beef brisket. Flavorful, yes—but a bit dry and overcooked. The mac was fine, nothing life‑changing. The real standout? That cornbread muffin. Light, fluffy, and genuinely delicious. If everything else matched that muffin, this would be a different review.

H&H Soul Food has potential—I just think I ordered the wrong thing this time around.

Thanks for the beans and things!! The food was excellent too.
In all seriousness, the food was amazing. One of those meals that you need occasionally. Seasoned perfectly, good-sized portions, all-around good stuff. The history ” Thanks for the beans and things” is super cool.

The price is right

No complaints here. I’ll be back soon!

Billy’s Let’s Eat Review of H & H Soul Food on November 24th, 2025

Monday Morning and I had to get an early start. I had tons of appointments scheduled all over Macon. When my first appointment ended, I unexpectedly had some time to kill and what better way to kill time other than to find a breakfast spot!

And then I remembered, H & H Soul Food has been on my radar for a while! What better way to spend a portion of my morning!

When I walked in, the first thing I thought to myself was, oh, this isn’t “a” joint, this is “the” joint.

I was quickly taken to my table and handed the menu. Breakfast is served Monday to Friday only from 7AM to 11AM. Lunch is served from 11AM to 3PM and they’re also open for brunch on the weekend.

So, let’s eat!

What I Ordered:
Just a quick note here… it took less than 2 minutes from the time I placed my order until I got my plate. They’re impressively fast. I have literally waited longer at a fast food restaurant. So if you’re in a hurry, this is an outstanding solution.

Biscuits and Gravy with a side of Bacon and 2 Scrambled Eggs = $15.00
The biscuits are the star here. They’re crispy on the outside and perfectly textured on the inside. Not too dense, not too flaky. The bacon was crispy perfection and the eggs were delicious.

The gravy on the menu says it is served with a sausage gravy but it’s actually their peppermill gravy with some sausage cut up on top of the biscuit then they pour the peppermill gravy on top. So it’s not really sausage gravy but in essence, it tasted pretty good. Though I have to admit, there’s nothing like a real sausage gravy.

Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast. I “people” watched and saw many folks picking up “to go” orders, a group celebrating a birthday breakfast and quite a few people walked in coming from a 3rd shift of work.

H & H Soul Food is located at 807 Forsyth Street and they have free parking in their parking lot.

Where should I go next?

An establishment full of love. It was definitely worth stopping for Sunday brunch as we passed through Macon. The food was perfect (*Soul Rolls*) and the folks running it are above and beyond. Thank you Terrence (Sweet T ;)) and your Mama for the biscuits and slice of cake. A highlight of our trip!

H & H is a must stop in Macon. The food is amazing and very inexpensive. The service is like the food-excellent American comfort.
We were in town for an Allman Brothers Band pilgrimage, this cafe fits the bill as the band ate here often and the walls are decorated with ABB photos and posters.
Thanks for the great time!

I can’t rave enough about this place!! Food is amazing, service is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is like a Sunday supper with the family after church!!! My daughter has been in the children’s hospital for a while now and to say this place and people have been a blessing to us, is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! If you haven’t tried them, shame on you ! You’re truly missing out!! They make you feel like family! I’d recommend a meal but EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS!! GO… You won’t be disappointed!!

This was my first visit to this restaurant . It has been highly recommended by a friend that we took with us. It was very good quite delicious. The vegetables are enough to make you a vegetarian although I didn’t get the meatloaf. Each of us got something different and everything was good. If you like soul food or as I call it real food this is the place to go that you really enjoy. It’s historic with his connections to the Georgia music scene. If you’re anywhere in the area don’t miss the chance to eat here
