My partner and I visited Small Cheval and each ordered a burger, then shared the fries and chicken fingers. The burger bun was soft and airy, which I really liked, but the patty itself was thinner than expected and left me and my partner wanting more. The chicken fingers were juicy and well-cooked, but the fries were just okay—not bad, but not memorable.
With such a limited menu, I was really hoping for food that felt exceptional across the board, and while everything was decent, it didn’t quite get there. There were also a few service and experience details that stood out. My partner wanted a beverage, but there was no one behind the bar at the time. (I was able to order my wine from the cashier who took our order). Additionally, only offering ketchup packets for dine-in made the overall experience feel a bit cheap, which didn’t seem to match the vibe they were going for.
The interior itself was nice and homey, but there was a circular table placed right in the middle of the walkway, which made moving through the space slightly inconvenient. Overall, it was a good experience, just not as polished as I expected. I’d still be open to stopping by again in the summer to try their boozy shakes, which sound fun and might be a highlight.

Great location first of all, the food was amazingly good for it being my first time here. I always passed by it while working, but never stopped by and actually sat. Love the atmosphere even during the off season. Burgers were delicious, and the shake was pleasantly thick.

Really really good burgers. This place has a nice atmosphere with a great bar. I’m always surprised to find such a huge, nice looking bar in a place that’s essentially a fast food burger restaurant. The atmosphere was very warm. The serving staff at the front was very polite and helpful. Given it was our first time coming here, The hamburgers were probably the star of the meal, well the milkshake was closed second. The fries were okay but quite oversalted for our taste. Definitely a great spot if you’re coming out to the ball game.

I brought my husband here on Saturday and Sunday. The bartender is friendly and welcoming. All 3 staff members we interacted with were quick and kind. The double cheeseburger is fantastic with the garlic aioli sauce. (Which is an option on the side) also great with your fries.

Had the double and chicken tenders at Small Chavel in Wrigleyville, and wow—so good! The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, and the chicken tenders were crispy and flavorful. The staff is super friendly, and the cozy vibe makes it a great spot to hang out. Definitely coming back!

Very good juicy cheeseburgers, fresh hot tasty chicken and a go to shake to go with. No complaints here!

Don’t order here. You won’t find parking and end up making the same mistake I did by parking in the neighborhood lots. I even called several times to try and get my order canceled so I wouldn’t have to take this risk. It went to voice mail every time, three times. These people have no intention of answering the phone so don’t bother calling them. When I went inside I had waited for the cashier, and after he started helping the 4th customer after I came in I just yelled out “I’m parked illegally can someone please help me pick up my order” and thats when someone finally helped me. I ran back to mg car to find this ticket. This literally could have all been avoided had they not chosen apathy and picked up the phone so I could cancel the order. Mind you this is my first experience with this place, and depending on the burger will be my last experience with the brand. DON’T ORDER HERE, order at their other locations instead.
0/5 stars.

This place is great. They’re seed oil free and their fried chicken is also gluten free. I love it. I feel like I am indulging in some fun foods but without the terrible tummy ache after. Highly recommend the fried chicken and the golden fries!

I want to start by saying that the food at Small Cheval is fantastic, and my difficulties with this restaurant primarily concern the service. Since I moved to the neighborhood about a year ago, this restaurant has been a staple for my friends and me. However, there are a couple of major issues with mobile pickup orders. First off, the cashier almost always forgets to put my cheese sauce (or back when they had white truffle sauce, which is no longer available) in my bag. The sauce is extra, so it’s frustrating that I’m constantly spending an extra $3 for sauce I don’t end up receiving; either I have to check my bag and remind the cashier that I need sauce, or I go home to find out, with much disappointment, that I never got the sauce. Secondly, Small Cheval needs to update their SMS system that alerts customers when their order is ready for pickup. Multiple times now, I’ve received a text stating that my order is ready. I walk to the restaurant (a few-minute walk) just to find out that my order is, in fact, not ready, and that I’ll have to wait a little bit before getting my food. One time, it took 15 minutes of waiting at the restaurant for my food, even though I had already received a text saying it was ready. The food here is superb, so it’s really unfortunate they can’t get a couple of the little—but very important—things right.
Edit: Management has graciously offered me compensation for the missing sauces and incorrect pickup notifications. They also said that sometimes, when you enter in your phone number for pickup, the system switches to DoorDash and pickup estimates can be funky. Hopefully they fix these issues soon.
