Just as pies go to the Double R Diner when they die, omelettes go to the Original Pancake House. Stopped in for breakfast and ordered the western omelette and it truly was something impressive. An omelette typically contains three eggs but I swear that the ones here have between four and six. They are also unique in the sense that they are baked and “fluffy” as they are described by the menu.The main course was large enough as to where I had a small portion as leftovers. The side of sausage links (which I believe are made in house) was also very good. The were so-so and some of the menu items seemed a little pricey, but everything else made up for that. Can’t wait to go back and try their Dutch Baby.

We got seated and they accommodated my daughter with a high chair which we really appreciate. Our server was Victoria and was great. She was very patient with my family and explained the menu items thoroughly. It was my daughter’s birthday and Victoria went above and beyond to bring out a celebratory pancake and even sang to her. Serves like Victoria make going out to eat well worth it. Thank you.

Extremely disappointing experience.
We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, most of it was cold. The Sourdough Scrambler and the Chicken and Waffles were both served cold. We also ordered the Classic Crepe, which is supposed to come with eggs and bacon, but the server only brought the crepes.
When we asked about the missing items, they brought out cold eggs (clearly forgotten) and had to go back again just to get the bacon. On top of that, we ordered the M&M pancakes, and instead of mixing them in or doing something creative, they literally just threw M&Ms on top—no effort at all.
Overall, it was a frustrating and low-quality experience. Definitely not what you’d expect from a place with a name like “The Original Pancake House.” Would not recommend.

The Original Pancake House in Bethesda may have a legacy name, but the experience fell flat. The interior feels oddly sterile—think dentist’s office more than cozy breakfast spot—with worn booths and cold lighting that do little to create any warmth or charm

Buttermilk Pancakes were undercooked and doughy in the middle, and the scrambled eggs were oddly runny, lacking any fluff or seasoning. Even the plate presentation was off, with small pancakes looking lost on giant plates, and the eggs on a huge plate.
Service was fine but impersonal. Overall, it felt like a place going through the motions rather than delivering a satisfying breakfast. I wouldn’t wait in line for this restaurant. You can find much better in the area that deliver quality food.

The Original Pancake House was great in accommodating our Family very EARLY in the morning! The Server was friendly and fast in getting each order. He paid attention took care of all 10 of us. Our food was fresh, warm. The Coffee and tea was hot! A great experience before taking an early flight and traveling by car across country. So ENJOY the comfort!

Dear Diary – Who’s looking for amazing breakfast food!? Look no further, this is the place! Their food portion is generous. What about their service? Service is great! Atmosphere? This place can be very busy, but if you get around the rush, you may not feel rushed to finish your meal. I don’t think you can go wrong with any breakfast food selections – even for the picky eaters, there is always something available to try/eat. Everything comes to your table, freshly made, hot, and extremely tasty.

Came in around 10 without a reservation and was told to self seat. Our server came not too long after. We had ordered the ham and cheese omelette and lemon crepes (I asked for strawberries on top). The food came at an appropriate time and it was delicious. The crepes were on the sweeter side and the omelette was a bit fluffy. The portions are generous. Service was nice but nothing to rave over. Overall a nice spot for breakfast.

I really wanted to love this place and make it a weekend breakfast tradition but both times we’ve been here, service has been extremely delayed. Our food took about 35+ minutes to come out the first time we came. I thought it was a one time thing but it happened again today. My husband ordered a combo meal and the server only brought out his entree. When his sides finally came out his hash browns were burnt. Needless to say, we probably won’t be back.
