Definitely a hit and mix food experience for my group. Not sure what flavor is used for the waffles, but we were no fans of the waffles or the biscuits. The hand cut fries were a hit. Great customer service and the playlist was .

So my cousin and I decided to take a little trip across town for some good barbecue. We asked around, read a few reviews online, and figured Ivy City Smokehouse had to be the spot. We even fought through that wild Chris Brown concert traffic — talk about dedication!
When we finally got there, we took the elevator up to the second floor and were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who asked if we wanted to dine in or order to go. Since we were grabbing takeout, she sent us over to the bar. The bartender was super welcoming, told us it was his first time seeing us there, and gave a few recommendations — always a good start.
I ended up ordering the P.E.I. Mussels ($19), a half rack of smoked spareribs ($26) with a mac and cheese upgrade ($4), smoked/grilled wings ($18), and a Strawberry Hennessy Margarita ($22).
Now here’s where things got… complicated.
The ribs were tough — like, chewing-on-a-leather-belt tough. The outside had this jerky-like texture that made it hard to enjoy. The wings didn’t hit either; I was hoping for that smoky, juicy flavor that makes you lick your fingers clean, but they were dry and pretty bland. The white sauce that came with the cucumbers was actually really nice though — light, tangy, and a good contrast to the heavier dishes.
The mussels were fine — not bad, but nothing to rave about. And then came the mac and cheese… the heartbreak of the night. Dry, flavorless, and oddly spiced with what tasted like pumpkin spice or nutmeg. I was so confused — I came for comfort food, not a fall dessert.
Honestly, I wanted to love this place — the staff was friendly, the vibe was cool, and the service was fast. But the food just didn’t live up to the hype or the price tag.

Regardless of the time of day, be it brunch, lunch, or dinner, the experience consistently delivers exceptional energy. The atmosphere is vibrant, fostering connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The culinary offerings are consistently outstanding, and we highly recommend experiencing it firsthand. Sorry no pictures of the food but I did see a band that night.

This place is freaking rock solid. I came up here not knowing the area but damn I landed in the right spot. Samantha is rocking this place keeping smiles on everyone and slanging some of the best oyster and drinks

Would never eat from here AGAIN! PETER LOFTUS the OPERATIONAL MANAGER WAS VERY RUDE AND USED SARCASM FOR OUR ENTIRE CONVERSATION! WHEN I SAID MY VEHICLE WAS STOLEN HE LAUGHED! LOW BLOW! The server advertised catfish and I received another type of fish. Peter CONTINUED to name call me saying this like “fish expert” and “know it all”. Then said feel free to bring the meal back after an hour metro ride home. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, not even a dog. You can visibly see that is not catfish, and Peter stated he couldn’t tell due to the batter. Yea OK!

I have brought a couple of school groups here for meals. They are very accommodating, giving them their own special space. The barbecue, however, leaves very much to be desired. Pork is absolutely inedible if you’ve ever had any pulled pork before to compare it to and I’m talking about the stuff in the frozen section of the grocery store being even more palatable. Chicken is okay. The sauce is like someone took a little ketchup and dumped in a few drops of Frank’s hot sauce and some vinegar

Fantastic restaurant we stumbled upon. My friend claimed their BBQ sauce was the best he’d ever had. The fresh oysters were great. Everyone in our party of 8 left full and fully satisfied with our experience.

Went on a Saturday early evening. Beautiful day so we sat on the roof top. We parked at a nearby garage and walked over, but it looks like there is some street parking. Highly suggest the smoked fish board. The salmon was tasty and the drinks were good too.

Great atmosphere; the place gets busy at 7 and later, where it is bustling and great vibes even on a weekday. That’s when I would recommend coming here. Great service, our waiter checked on us very very often, and was attentive. Food was alright. The po boy was alright, wouldn’t order again. The brisket sandwich was really good though! Fries were soft, not crunchy, which I actually enjoyed but I know a lot of people don’t. Pecans brownie was soooooo good! Super warm and soft and strong chocolate, really generous on the pecans too! And a nice scoop of ice cream. Overall, if you come here I would come at 7 or later, get the brisket sandwich or smash burger and the pecan brownie.

Make reservations for a large group 60 kids. The restaurant is nice. Our group was seated upstairs which had inside and outside seating. From my perspective the food was just ok. We had barbecue beef or chicken sliders. I don’t know if it was prepared differently because of the large group. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Mac n Cheese. I didn’t like the security person staring at us during our dinner. The kids were well behaved .
