I was treated to a pre-birthday Sushi Dinner at Nakato on the evening of December 27th. After having been spoiled by incredible Sushi by my late wife in Southern California, and not really finding anything comparable while living in Willow Springs, (West Plains has an ok Sushi restaurant-Kiko), but, finding favorites like the Salmon Roe, Uni, etc., outside of a major city is nearly impossible. Having my old favorites once again was absolutely heavenly. Next time I visit Nakato, I must bring a signed promo picture for the establishment. The food was absolutely amazing

I’ve been coming here since I was 18 months old, when my parents first brought me, and now at 31 it’s still one of my favorite places. This restaurant has always been a special spot for my whole family. The food is consistently excellent and never disappoints—it’s truly some of the best around. We always enjoy our experience here and love coming back.

We booked ahead for my special needs son on his 16th birthday on a Friday. I made them aware it was his birthday and was even charged for the birthday special and they never presented him with it. I did ask to speak to the manager who did offer to give me my $8 back, however I did not ask for it back. Our service was lacking, drinks were empty numerous times. The staff was messy and kept spilling the sauces all over, the salad was all wilted like it had been sitting in the bowls for hours. Not impressed and would have liked to have the birthday stuff as I had asked for and was charged for. We will not be returning.

My boyfriend and I came to eat here for the first time. Server was super sweet and even helped us clean up a mess that we spilt. However, the sushi we had was very mid tier and upset my boyfriend’s stomach. We also ordered 2 of one roll and 1 of the other but got 2 of both which raised the cost of our meal $20. We usually go to Hinode and I would probably recommend that because it’s cheaper and better.

What a fun hibachi experience with excellent food! We had such a fun time with our kids and highly recommend this!

We went before 6pm so we were able to get the early bird special which is great and a bit cheaper. The chicken & steak is great! The fried rice is a $2 up charge which seems silly since it’s all high priced anyways.

Everything here was awesome! The food was so yummy and you get soup and salad too! The drink menu is very reasonably priced. I had the Toki Highball! Very delish.

A must visit when coming to Springfield, or if you live here… whatever! Just try it out!

We just did take out. The prices were a little high since your not watching them cook, but if you like the way your food is cooked its good. The filet was probably the best and the chicken was second.

Let me first share I don’t often, or maybe have ever left a one star review— I just felt after my experience in Nakato, I would share some changes compared to our previous experiences.

After having come to Nakato for many years, I am sad to say it’s a vastly different experience than I’ve previously encountered. Although the food was still delicious and our chef, Zac, was excellent, the wait staff was rushed and the more seasoned seating hostess was rude, and refused to seat our party unless all of us were physically in the building.

Additionally when she asked our party size, I shared “6 and 2 high chairs” to which she quickly snapped, “So eight.” It was a very snippy encounter as our first encounter after walking in.

Our whole party was at the restaurant but my sister in law was breastfeeding her baby in the parking lot so they wouldn’t seat us without her present at the table. Thus making her feel rushed, delaying our meal time, and after our request numerous times to simply be seated and order for her, they would not accommodate.

After being seated, our server was polite but rushed. When a lady at our table asked if she could have her veggies without onion, the server shared that it would be a $2 up charge for no-onions (this was not previously a policy under old ownership). When the lady asked “why?”, the server shared that the restaurant policy is that if it’s not an allergy, any changes to the order are an up-charge fee— even if it’s less food.

As soon as chef leaves, the server brings checks and to go boxes to the table, leading you to scurry to end your meal. My husband was still eating off his plate when it was taken. Again, I don’t blame the server for this oversight, but I can sense it’s the new culture of ownership at the restaurant to turn profit, not make your guests feel like they are having a fun dining experience, as it previously was.

Additionally, the menu pricing on the early bird was out of date. The menu pricing stated $19 for the shrimp meal, but when the bill came it was $21. Again, not a big deal but a sign of the lack of excellence that Nakato once held as a staple of the Springfield restaurant space.

As always,Nakoto’s was a fantastic dining experience. We arrived for an early dinner and had a brief wait for a table. The chef did a great job.
