We usually swing through after a beach day and grab fried clams and calamari. The chowder is always a winner…. perfect on a cooler day or when you need to warm up after the kids inevitably go all in on the ocean. The food can be hit or miss depending on timing, but that’s why I always recommend eating it right there instead of taking it home. Fresh from the fryer is where it shines.
There’s something about the combo of salty air, picnic tables, and fried seafood that just hits different.
Definitely a summer staple if you’re from around here – and if you’re not, this is the spot that’ll make you feel like you are.
The restaurant is right by the beach, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with a view. I definitely need to come back to try their fried fish, shrimp, and lobster rolls. The staff is friendly and very professional. They have a small parking lot, so plan accordingly. They have outside seating.
On this trip in the winter I asked the size of the whole belly clams. He said they were running tiny. I live an honest answer.
He then said, let me put you on hold they just opened a new bucket, IYKYK, yes they come in buckets.
He came back on the phone to tell me the bellies on the new bucket were much bigger/normal size.
They have a small prepared and fresh seafood case, unfortunately it’s a long drive and I almost always forget to bring a cooler with me.
Atmosphere is classic small time seafood shack. Although parking is small I’ve never had a problem.
They do a lot of take out service.
Found it while visiting a friend at the very nearby V.A. Hospital.
Lucky find, happy customer.
Prices are what they are, seafood (whole bellies) are expensive anywhere, overall I think their price is reasonable.
