We ate there 2 days ago, and it was delicious!

My hubby and I looked for a vegetarian-friendly spot in Helen, GA that was also pet-friendly. We ended up at Nacoochee Villiage and Tavern.

They have a nice, pet-friendly patio that’s chill enough that our border collie mix didn’t get anxious. Our server was attentive and friendly, with good drink recommendations.

We ordered the “Tree Hugger” pizza, and it was delicious! Loaded with toppings, but the crust was still crisp and delicious.

we loved that this restaurant is off the main drag in Helen, so it’s not too noisy to sit on the patio, and nobody tried to rush us away from our table.

Five stars for the service, food, and atmosphere!

We’ve been here many times through the years – really good experiences in the past despite usually being slow, but this last experience was so bad that it negated all those times and we won’t be back.

Service was horrible – we sat down and ordered – the restaurant was not busy at all – and it was pre- dinner rush on a weekday. But there were still dirty tables all around. We ordered within 5 minutes of sitting down because we have an order we know and like.

30 minutes later we got our drinks.

1 hour and 15 minutes later we got our appetizers and salad. Completely wrong food. 10 minutes later we got the appetizers. The bacon and spinach salad didn’t have any spinach in sight (they used lettuce mix instead, which is fine but tell us you are subbing something), but we were starving so we dug in. Breadsticks were cold but we were starving by this point so we ate them.

Pizza came around the 1 hour and 45 mark. Completely inedible. It was completely cold to the touch, was almost entirely crust, and the crust was a weird chewy texture. The roasted garlic on the pizza was hard as a rock.

We ate a couple bites and gave up. Once we finally got the servers attention, they knew it was an issue and took it off without question – so that was a positive.

After a little over two hours here, and we ended up in a drive through grabbing more edible food.

We’ll be giving this place a break until we hear they get it together or get new ownership.

Let me start by saying… The pizzas are amazing. Flavorful and worth the wait. That being said, they were extremely understaffed. Out waiter did amazing however given how overwhelmed she was. We sat near the kitchen, and you can tell stress was high, we overheard some bickering. This was during Oktoberfest so I understand the businesses but one should also prepare. Having worked in the food industry, I also saw some red flags in terms of food violations. Somehow, even after all this, we were very satisfied as the pizza was simply excellent. Tasted so good, we forgot how long we waited. When engaging the staff, they did good to be friendly. I do think this place could be one of the best in Ga, they just need to organize a bit. Overall, 4 stars.

Staying in Unicoi and wanted to get off the beaten path for some pizza. This place answered the call! We walked asked to seat where we liked. We came right after a huge rush so tables still had to be cleared. We sat at a table that had the last customers glasses and trays. Our waitress came by apologized and cleared the table got our drinks. She came back and took our food order. She was quick and efficient. I dont remember her name but she had a Coca Cola hat on. She and the bartender were running around and taking care of customers and clearing tables. Our pizza came out in a good amount of time for how busy they were. We got the Bear, which was delicious, hot, and full of flavor. The crust was perfect. Our son got the Chicken bacon ranch pizza(they have a different name for it) It was hot and full of flavor. For the price, location, service, and quality of the pizza it is definitely worth it. I would come back and enjoy another pizza.

Found this place because we wanted pizza and not in the touristy part of Helen, nice little spot off the road. Wasn’t too busy, but as soon as we arrived it did start picking up. One server was running around taking orders but was very attentive. The pie itself was decent. Though we would of rather it been done a little more. However toppings were delicious. Recommend the Spicy piglet.

Our waitress was nice, she couldnt control the 2 hr wait ( not kidding ) before we got our food. I received my salad in about an hr, but my husband and son did not get their food til 2 hr mark and we had to get it to go, because by then, my husband has a bad back and sitting there 2 hrs, his back started to spasm. I was so dissapointed, I chose here for my birthday supper. 2 hrs is not an acceptable wait anywhere I dont think. We have eaten here fairly freq and not had this experience. I called and spoke with management after I got home, she apolagized but I feel i should of been offered a free meal maybe. I saw numerous to-go orders being taken care of, but the customers inside not so much… I mentioned this to management and she stated, yes this was a problem. Food was good when we got it home and my spouse and son ate. Dissapointed in my birthday choice of where to eat… I saw several other tables leave after waiting 45 min to an hr. wait. I will give this establishment another try in the far future or maybe I will get takeout because that seemed to be moving swiftly.

The food here is good. Pizza is a little limp but the flavor is there. But warning: Service will take a long time.

To begin, today, we were there at about 6pm. It was just 6 people. We didn’t have anyone at our table until 6:15. At this point we put all our orders in. Drinks, appetizers, and entrees in. We ordered two meatball apps and 2 large pizzas. Food was delicious. Unfortunately the same can not be said about their service. There was a younger, biracial and feminine man with a beard who was serving us.We didn’t not get appetizers until about 40 minutes after ordering. Pizza was about 75 minutes after ordering. The place was not busy. Our server never once refilled our water or checked on us (very very poor performance). At one point we ordered a cider, it was sitting at the bar ready to be delivered to our table for over ten minutes. Our server regularly walked by it, looked at it, looked at us, and kept walking. Eventually I went up and grabbed the cider myself and brought it to the table.

When it was time to ask for our check, it took ANOTHER 15 minutes to get it. I had to call him down twice to get the check.

Again. Food was good. Service was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I’ll be calling the manager this week and I’ll be expecting the card we used to be refunded. This was a horrible experience, mind you they were not busy at all.

The pizza we had from the Nacoochee Village Tavern and Pizza was really good. We had the large pepperoni, however, I did feel like it needed a little bit more sauce. This is our first time trying this restaurant. We’re not drinkers, so couldn’t tell you anything about the tavern end of things. The atmosphere seems lively, and they were busy, which tends to be a good sign most of the time. Would recommend.

The pizza here is awesome with a brick oven taste. All the toppings taste fresh and naturally delicious. The inside of the building definitely has an old tavern feel with an all wood finish. Great music selection playing. The staff was super nice! Even thought the pizza was not ready when we arrived they made us feel at home. Great place to grab a pizza if your visiting Helen and want a quick bite or to take back to a B and B.

Hanna was the sweetest waitress. She was the only waitress for the whole restaurant and she was rocking it! She was apologetic for wait times for things, even though times were very reasonable. The garlic bread was delicious. We got a 18” in half cheese/half mushroom and onion. The caramelized onion was amazing. This was our first meal in Helen and it was a great one. Hanna set the tone for a wonderful trip! $37 to feed 4 people and we had leftovers. The patio was perfect!
