Atmosphere/ambiance is sooo fun! All staff were fun, energetic and very kind! The food was great!! My husband got the Paniolo beef Barbacoa bowl, I got the Pele mild ahi tuna bowl, added cilantro and crunchy bits .. sooo good! Both soo good depending on if youre looking for a warm or fresh type meal. P.S you can order drinks at the first counter if you want to enjoy your wait in the well deserved long-ish line. Will absolutely be coming here on our next Big Bear trip !

A great spot recommend to us by some friends. Best poke i’ve had and that’s serious. And what a great spot with great staff. Thank you Ian for your great customer service, and your kindness. What a cool guy! And the art in this spot is so beautiful, was happy to see the “4 u”ifykyk ! This spot deserves a great rating! I think it can be pretty busy so come when you’re ready to spend some time with good friends or family! I ordered the Mermaid Milk alcoholic drink and the Pele mild bowl, not too spicy!

You get in line and type in you order on the gigantic iPad screen, they have lots of add ons and a lot of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious and flavorful. The drinks were so good! The flavored whipped cream and lilikoi syrup on the waffles was the best!! Can’t wait to go back!!! They have a ton of seating inside and out. They call your name and you pick up your food. The staff is super cool too. I tried to write a review on Yelp but Yelp said that they shut down their page due to high volume of traffic to the Tropicali restaurant page so you KNOW this place is good!

The bowls may seem smaller than other poke bowls at the beginning but portion of the fish is so much bigger! Service is top notch and they actually make an effort to make their customers happy. View is amazing as well. Worth the wait!

Amazing! So fun, so kitschy. If you love anything tiki, you will appreciate this gem in Big Bear. It gets crowded quick on a weekend (summertime visit for us). We had to come back another day before opening time and were the first in line. Super friendly staff, self-order kiosks. The best poke bowl I have had (Tahiti Bowl), not exaggerating —so fresh, perfectly balanced sauce, perfect sized portion, simple overall in presentation and ingredients but sooo good (granted, I’m not a poke bowl connoisseur! But I know fresh and well-balanced!). We ordered a pork bowl (can’t remember the name, pulled pork and pineapple), also tasty. Also had the Island Style waffle and it was delicious, not too sweet, the nutty coconut amaretto flavors went so well together. Husband loved the beer he got (from Maui Brewing Co, one of their IPAs) and I enjoyed their pina colada smoothie. Must go here when in Big Bear! Not one negative aspect. Plus: they are dog friendly and have a great outdoor balcony with view of the lake.

Hidden gem up in Big Bear lake, awesome tiki style restaurant. We didn’t eat however the cocktails and environment were really good. They have an outside seating area that overlooks the lake , great for people watching.

I’ll start this by explaining that my significant other is extremely selective and picky about where we go out to eat. It hasn’t be 4.8 stars or higher, the menu has to be impressive for her, and location-location-location. We came up to Sugarload for business briefly and we’re aiming for our usual Friday Night Date Night in Big Bear. After a brief google search told me “I found it, they’re 4.9 stars and there’s a surprise!” Didn’t even check the menu, as this place impressed her immediately.
As we pull up, the surprise is the giant shark’s mouth you walk-in through to the restaurant front doors. Extremely family-friendly with a thematic style akin to Disneyland, there’s neat decorations everywhere. The food? Absolutely stellar. Tasty, healthy, and perfectly portioned. Their Pina Colada-Style virgin shake was so refreshing on this warm yet beautiful day.
We will be returning here as often as we can. Oh, and the gentlemen working today had the character and service nailed down perfectly. It’s rare to find folks with such a positive vibe.

Beautiful place with attractive atmosphere and decoration for a restaurant. The staff gave me poke bowl pork but I actually ordered beef. Food tastes ok but not great.

Place is very cool and the food is just as good! Definitely was worried it might be a tourist trap but was so glad we stopped by. Staff were friendly. Fun vibes. There is a long line to get food and you order at a kiosk and then sit down. Food comes out very quickly after ordering. Good quality fish for the poke. The jerk chicken is spicy but very good. Teriyaki chicken was delicious!
