Updated red-sauce Italian-American fare with local ingredients served in cozy digs with a courtyard.

Went for a nice Saturday dinner and had an ok time. The restaurant is small, but clean and has a cozy atmosphere even with lots of noise. Like other reviewers mentioned the service was slow, but the place was extremely packed so not the end of the world. Our food was good, but our risotto balls were frozen in the middle, and my husbands meatballs were lukewarm-not what you expect at this price point. The drinks were super great and their red sauce is wonderful!! Nice staff and clean restrooms.

Me and the wife wanted to celebrate valentine’s day before the crowds, plus we have heard so many great things about Gravy. I called the day before to setup reservations and I specifically asked for outside seating. The lady told me it wouldn’t be a problem if weather was good.
Came in today. Told the hostess 3 times I reserved a outside table. Finally on the 4th time with a stronger tone of voice I asked again for the outside table I reserved. That’s when we were seated at a inside table and told they weren’t doing outside tables.
Ordered the apple cider cocktail, risotto balls, spaghetti and meatballs, tagliatelle bolognese. The Apple cider cocktail tasted like ginger ale with lemon. Both me wife and I did not taste any apple. My tagliatelle bolognese was okay. My wife’s spaghetti sauce tasted like it came from a can, the meatballs were overly peppered. The risotto balls are the highlight of this meal. Something that good must be sinful. Soft but crunchy exterior, delicate and rich on flavor in the inside. Ultimately spent $90 at gravy just to go down the street and spend $20 McDonald’s. I don’t know if the cooking was a off night, but it happens i get it. Our server was amazing and helpful. The hostess was uncaring, and non responsive. She seemed very vacant.

Great Find in Downtown Raleigh
We arrived mid-afternoon on Tuesday and were greeted promptly. We started with the two-cheese charcuterie board — a generous portion with a beautiful presentation.
For entrees, the butternut squash in burnt butter was incredible — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The tagliatelle bolognese was another standout: the noodles were cooked just right, and the sauce struck a great balance of creaminess and savory depth.
I ordered a Tito’s martini, which was well-made, though prepared with sweet vermouth instead of dry. The service was so warm and genuine, I didn’t have the heart to mention it.
Overall: a must-stop for any foodie. The space, the food, and the service all radiate love and care.

I’d give this place a million stars if I could. The food was incredible. I was shocked at the flavor and presentation of everything. GET THE MOZERELLA WEDGE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. The gnocchi was also delicious. If you are a fan of Italian food, check this spot out! They also have great mocktails if you don’t drink. Amazing service too, everyone was so friendly. Can’t wait to come back!!

We had a really nice lunch at Gravy. The atmosphere was warm and inviting — perfect for a cozy date spot. They have some great booth seating and lots of tables set up for parties of two, which makes it feel intimate and relaxed. Definitely a place we’d visit again for a casual lunch or a night out.

The food itself was great, but service was off. We asked for an extra minute to finalize what we wanted, but it was almost 15 before the waitress came back around. We ordered 3 courses, and the mains came out before we were half way done with the apps, and were hardly lukewarm by the time we could try a bite. It felt a bit rushed and impersonal.

Not a good night. Long time customer and this is my first bad review of this restaurant.
Simple spaghetti & meatball order, that I have ordered many times, but this time I think I was given 2 kids meals instead of the adult size that I ordered. The spaghetti was 1/2 the portion as given in the past, luke warm and a bit rubbery. Almost like I got the leftovers in the bottom of the pot. I probably would have been happy if it were hot & fresh. Maybe this is the new Togo order size of future. It’s Sunday so it was half off but $25 for this on a regular night seems like a rip-off.

This was my first time at Gravy and I really enjoyed my experience! The eggplant pie with the penne pasta was delicious, I ate the entire plate. The service is great and the atmosphere has a cozy vibe. I would highly recommend dining here!

I have eaten at a lot of Italian spots and I would have to say I was a little disappointed with the risotto at this one. I am a risotto lover, but also a risotto snob, and anywhere I go that has it I will give it a try. For one I think the flavor from the mushrooms were a little overpowering giving off too much of an earthy taste. Blended with other vegetables along with the scallops just didn’t work for me. I was also disappointed for such a shallow dish to also only have 3 scallops for $33. On top of that they ran out of Tiramisu. How can an Italian restaurant run out of their most beloved desert on a Saturday by 730p? Nonetheless, this is only my opinion of my experience. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals. Would I eat here again? Most likely, I would. I would probably choose something with a red gravy!

We tried a few different apps and entrees. The bruschetta pizza, risotto balls and vodka ravioli were yum. The chicken parmigiana was a let down. The sphagetti was chewy with very little gravy. The biggest disappointment of the night was definitely the service. The server was not friendly at all. At times, i felt like she was rude.
