We stopped by The White Horse Restaurant and had such a great experience. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside — not greasy at all. The sweet potato fries were excellent, and the lemon wedge on the side added a nice fresh touch.

For dessert, we tried the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious — warm, comforting, and just the right sweetness. It went perfectly with a cup of coffee.

The service was friendly and relaxed, and the food came out hot and fresh. Overall, a cozy, welcoming place with food that’s clearly made with care. Definitely worth a visit!

My girlfriend and I stopped by after hiking and it was worth it. She had the chicken pot pie, I got the NY strip, and we shared the truffle mac & cheese and chocolate soufflé — everything was delicious. The place was busy so we sat at the bar, but the bartender was super friendly and attentive. Overall, great food and cozy atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

Very special place with all the best comfort and pub fare in a living breathing reliquary type setting. Everyone was super nice and we filled up after a long day of driving. I think I had the shepards pie and the meatloaf. My goodness took me back to my grandmas cooking. Just walking around and seeing all artifacts was a trip. Def pulling up here anytime we near this area.

The place has a lovely outside view and the waitress was really friendly. The pink horse and the coconut shrimp were delicious. We also ordered the short ribs plate which had pasta and was big enough for sharing.

On our way from PA to MA we decided to stop here and even made a 40-minute detour specifically for this place. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really worth it.

The service was good and the location is nice — I can imagine it being especially lovely in the summertime. However, the food itself was pretty average. My Reuben sandwich was disappointing: it didn’t have corned beef and wasn’t served on rye bread — instead it came with white bread and regular ham. Honestly, it felt like something I could have picked up at a random stop along I-84.

Overall, it was okay, but not worth going out of the way for.

Dinner with the fam tonight. Made reservations last weekend and asked to sit by the fire on the Pub side. We had a great experience from the moment we walked in and were seated by the fireplace, our server was attentive and friendly, along with the bartender who brought us our drinks. The pace of the courses was perfect, our meals came out piping out and were delicious. Pub steak, Short Rib Stroganoff, Steak Frites Bernaise, Drunken shrimp with tomato & asparagus risotto, Caesar salad, chicken crunch tenders. I would highly recommend it all! Dirty Martinis came with 3 fat olives- a meal in itself! Espresso Martini was excellent. Unfortunately, no room for dessert. Maybe next time!

Lovely bistro next to a peaceful creek. The service is excellent and the extensive American-based menu has something for everyone. Anglo historians would enjoy the owner’s extensive collection of authentic centuries old British documents.
The White Horse is very reasonably priced for the quality of food, service and ambience .

The White Horse is a country pub and restaurant with beautiful views of the river. I love that they made it look like an English pub. The menu also seems to be European inspired. From pot pie, Shepard’s pie, bangers and mash, to French onion soup. The menu was lovely with a wide selection to choose from and the prices were pretty affordable. Inside, it looked historic which I love; there are apparently some historic artifacts as well. Parking can be tight but we were able to find a spot no problem.

We decided to sit out on the patio; to my surprise there was a river back there. It was on the cooler May side but a sweater solved any coldness we had. I started off with a sangria and I really enjoyed it so I had two of those. Then a French onion soup which was delightful. My sons had Mac and cheese and that was ooey gooey good. There was a slight mishap, I ordered a chicken pot pie but a Shepard’s pie came out; they rectified that quickly and gave me a sangria on the house. The pot pie was delicious; I love how flaky the crust was and it melted in my mouth. There were ample amount of chicken. The server we was polite and attentive. With the great views, drinks, service, and food, this place deserved 5 stars and I can’t wait to go back.

I’m actually going to start with a review of the servers. They were very friendly, and the recommendations were on-point! We were having a hard time choosing between some things, and the server gave us very honest opinions about dishes. And, her opinions were right! Our meal was fantastic. Interestingly enough, the White Horse has the best pecan pie that we have had in Connecticut. (That was a fun surprise!) Great experience, and a really fun restaurant. I do recommend making a reservation if you go. The secret is out. 🙂

I had the vegan cottage pie, which unfortunately lacked flavor, and consisted of vegetables and rice.
Husband had a burger, had no complaints. Service was excellent. The Beer and wine were good. Will return to try a cocktail.
Location, decor, and atmosphere were great, we sat outside. Very nice, felt like home across the pond.
Highly recommend, I look forward to trying the other vegan recipes. The menu was fantastic; especially if you were not a pain and vegan like me, there were about 5 vegan options which is wonderful.
